AMEN...

Michigan's Secretary of State says that President Obama's desire that the children of illegal immigrants be given the benefits of American citizenship will not result in a Drivers License or a state ID card in Michigan.

Secretary Ruth Johnson determined these people were not "legally present" to qualify for a Michigan license.

"Our law requires 'legal presence'," spokeswoman Gisgie Gendreau told WOOD Radio Saturday morning, "and the federal government has been very clear that the DACA program does not confirm legal presence."

DACA is the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy announced recently by President Obama who said these children of illegal immigrants had no choice about entering this country. Many of them are adults now, living in America as illegal aliens.

Even though Varnum Law's website, in Grand Rapids, said immigration attorneys are challenging this, Gendreau tells WOOD Radio the White House was very specific in its definition of what constitutes "legal presence".

Agreed: children should not be driving anyway.

And while children may have had no choice when being brought to the U.S., they did have a choice when becoming adults. If they decided to stay as illegal aliens in the United States instead of living as lawful residents in their own country, the "it was my parents' fault" defense becomes invalid and they should be willing to live with the consequences of their own choice.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

It's a vicious cycle. The US government passes an amnesty act to fix/resolve the problem, and then we come full circle to the same immigration problem/issue with the next group of illegal immigrates.

When the government tries to enforce the laws, people ###### and complain that it's not fair/unjust. The person that should be blamed are the parents, because the US government didn't bring the children here. How many countries actually allow illegal immigration (I know wikipedia is not the most reliable source).

I just feel this way because should the US become a shithole, I don't have another place to go/call home.

And yes children should not be driving as well.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

*shrugs*

This depends on how Michigan issues a license. What documents they require. If they require an EAD, then these kids are going to get those.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.
