Obtaining Immunization Records

As we're gathering things for the next step, my husband's doctor told him that they no longer have his immunization records. This is his family doctor that he had growing up.

My question is, are they definitely needed or is there a way around it?

Also, anyone know where else they could be obtained?

Thanks so much!

Kristina

The same thing happened to my hubby. He had his doctor write a letter stating the immunizations he had when he was young. Still, he ended up getting the MMR and tetanus at his medical.

Good luck!

Also, looking at your timeline (which wow, things seemed to go quickly once the case was recieved at London! congrats!) how did you know that the case was transferred to the NVC and then the embassy. This may be a dumb question, but is that something I can check online or will I get a notice? I'm asking because we need to do a change of address for my husband and we don't know who/when to contact.

We still haven't received our paper NOA2. Only the email.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Hearing other people's stories calms me down :)

***oops, I just realized you weren't applying for the K3. Still the info should apply, no?

UK immunization records are DESTROYED!! once you reach the age of 25 years old, that was the info i was given from my local health authority. I contacted my GP tellin him my problem about needin immunization records, especially needin documented proof that i'd had MMR and tetanus, to my relief my GP re-did them for free, so i recommend you contact your own GP a.s.a.p to have them re-done before your medical. He/she can only say yes or no, luckily i have a great GP. If he cant re-do them then the doctor at your medical will do them for you, but it will cost you more.

Good Luck

My David had the same problem. He went to his GP who drew blood and tested for all of his immunities. The GP then created an immunization record from that. All he needed was varicella and updated tetanus.

Jen

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

I have no idea how much the immunizations would cost at the medical. Why dont you try your GP first!!! All possibility they will be re-done on the NHS for free. Always better to contact your own doctor first. As Jen suggested, your doctor will take a blood sample and do an immuno test to find out what immunizations you have had done.

As far as the MMR is concerned, it wasnt introduced until 1988, so anyone vaccinated before then would need MMR, simply because those born for example 60's or 70's only ever had the single doses of Measles, Mumps & Rubella, in otherwords, your not covered by MMR.

My advice: contact your own doctor first regarding MMR and tetanus. I got mine done for free in september this year because i could not provide proof that i'd ever had them.

Hope this helps

I needed MMR and Tetnus at my medical. It was £60.00 for the 2 jabs, so £220.00 for the whole medical. If you go to your GP first you should only require MMR and Tetnus to be up to date, everything else like polio etc your too old for now i think?
