Look, I think it is fair to say, this is just a debate between flying in a plane which has worked quite well or trying out a new untested model.... and what is the pay-out? That these various arraignments can all have equal social standing.

Not at all. This is a debate about a Federal Law infringing on the X Amendment of the US Constitution and the rights of the States...

Ahhh suddenly you are for states rights?

Look, if the state of California were to implement 'designer marriage" and a man with 5 wives joins the military, what does the state have to do with how many of those wives and kids the federal governemnt pays to care for?

If Muhammad X wants to immigrate with 4 wives.... what business is it of the fed?

How many spouses should the federal Gov't pay to insure for it's employees?

if the fed has no right to set standards for marriage, how dare they decide what the voting age will be?

There are thousands of situations where the federal Gov't must create a uniform understanding in this regard to have nearly any policy.

SOme people get tax benefits and some don't depending on the state they live in and what that state allows them to do?

The simplistic mind imagines these questions answer themselves.

You continue to misunderstand the issue.

This is really not a popularity contest as to what you or I think of states' rights. It really doesn't matter, for the Constitution is clear in matters of rights reserved to the states.

You're wasting your time. Others have wisely given up.

Nope. Nothing new about your "ideals" at all. In fact, if anything, they're outdated. Luckily the country (and many others) are moving on without you.

Wewll to be more accurate you are "hoping" the idea is outdated (clearly it is being reaffirmed and reinforced)

you are hoping the country moves on with out me.

and I might actually prefer that rather than accept that fate.

Has nothing to do with hope.

Has everything to do with some people accepting change and evolving, and some people clinging to outdated ideals.

More and more Americans are supporting same sex marriage. Sorry, Danno. They, rightfully, do not buy your claims that such things will cause society to disintegrate.

Just like interracial marriages were once controversial and now widely accepted, we are heading down the same path with homosexual marriage. Sure, there are still the racists who think it's wrong. But they're the minority, just like you will become.

I'm always amused by those who think that homosexuality is some new phenomenon that has randomly popped up in the last century.

I really think it should be mandatory in Western culture to learn about Eastern culture.. Then people might understand that this is nothing new and has been a general part of life for millenniums.

Yeh man, you might very well be right, because change and social evolution is continuous, which exactly why I laid out the case that -two men playing husband and wife is not the end of the line either.

If change were always wonderful Greece would not be in streets after old change failed and new change is too painful because of it.

and the Gov't would be paying for hymen restoration in the UK so that chaps in the home country think they are getting unused goods on the wedding night.

I suppose If Muhammad can't get a nest of virgins in death I guess he deserves at least one on this side.

It's called Change ..... deal with it.

It's like they think they are cultural sod busters or something.

What the hell are you rambling about? That this change would somehow be a negative thing? How so? Please tell me what would happen if this change were universally accepted.

Incorrect again. In this particular instance it is called due process. Bills, laws and court decisions get appealed all the time, it is really nothing new, nor is it a change to the legal system. In America, it has been so for over 200 years...

No, you are not. And the existing "airplane" WORKS when there are two loving and caring parents for children and two parents that PROVIDE for their children, not for a couple years, not until they are 18 but all their lives. The genders of whoci have little to do with anything
