Divorce does that.

Actually you are wrong again, the act of even needing divorce indicates something was united by the society.

So getting married and divorced 9 or 10 times doesn't destroy marriage. Only the gays can do that. Got it.

Again, I'm very thankful that people like you are growing older and becoming the minority.

There are no distinctions between race, one can be any combination of races yet there are only two halves of humanity Male and female, no matter what one does to their body the genetics are still one or the other.

additionally - your two halves theory is bunk. sh*t happens.

...direct family members should be able to marry as well.

In that case, get to a lawyer or go to your representative and have legislation drawn to that effect so you can marry your daughter or whoever else in your direct family you fancy marrying. Unfortunately for you, marrying family members is not addressed by DOMA, and as such it is not contemplated in the appeal process.

Evylin, not sure why you keep focusing on the homosexual when those legal cases are just the forerunner, the method which destroys the legal and social foundation marriage rests.

I'm still waiting to hear your social success stories of societies which have used this means to organize.

Please brag on it a little.

Hey, you're the one that says allowing homosexuals to marry would disintigrate society. Sorry you made a claim and can't back it up.

Divorce should be between a man and a woman. You know, like God intended.

Divorce is bad for women, because they go from being safe and secure to being alone and insecure, without a man to tell them what to do...(end of sarcarsm)

the legal and social foundation marriage rests.

Could you elaborate as to what the foundation [upon which] marriage rests is, in your opinion?

I've said it thousands of times before and I'll say it again, why ANYONE would want/need the government to recognize their relationship is beyond me. In a scientific way, I get it. I understand the "why," but on a personal level, that much government to tell me that I have a valid relationship is absurd.

Heterosexual people are doing the homosexual people a favor in keeping government out of their lives!! The heterosexual people are stupid for wanting their relationship to be defined by government. Stupid to want to say the government gives them any type of benefit because the government recognizes the relationship.

Be happy you have someone, live together if you want to and walk away if you don't want to be together. We have a civil court sytem for division of property, etc, and you should be able to designate whoever you want to as the person who speaks for you when in medical need. It shouldn't even have to be a spouse.

The system of marriage is what's broken, just like almost every other fabric of something government has its hand in.

I hear the government will step in and make their decisions for them until they find another man to do it. They'll be ok.

The only reason they want it is because without that recognition, they're being denied basic rights. It's not about validation. It's about having access to the same things other loving, committed heterosexual couples have.

If you have ever been involved in a K-1/K-3/IR-CR process you would understand first hand one of the many reasons why some people might need that recognition.

read my entire post, I mention that. The problem is government's involvement in those items to begin with.

Well, that does put my mind at ease. I was worried about all those divorcees - and single women - out there living their lives without any direction! I am glad someone will step in and rescue them from themselves...

There again, if marriage wasn't in government this would be a non-issue. You should be able to petition for your best friend to come here so long as he/she can pass a background check, you take responsibility for their financial needs in the first couple of years, etc. The system shouldn't be discriminatory at all.

huh. well orfee and i would have been completely happy living together and going about our lives as you suggest homosexual couples should, but in order to live in the same country on a permanent basis - we had to get married.

see how that works?
