Inviting my mother for visit

Hello VJ members! I am a Nigerian and a Green card holder through marriage. My wife is the US citizen and a Nigeria by birth. We are waiting the arrival of our first baby soon, and I am planning to ask my mother to come visit to help in nursing the baby as it is done in our culture. My wife's mother is no more, and that is why my wife and I have decided that my mother should come if possible. I do know I am not a U.S citizen, but I would like to know if she can come on family invitation to help in new born baby nursing. Has anyone experienced or gone through this before? Please, any advice or guidance relating to the issue would be appreciated. Thank you y'all.

Several of my Indian friends had done this as it is the culture in India as well. They have rich parents though so they have strong ties to go back to India and the Consul was not worried about them coming over here to overstay and work illegally. So, I advise your mom to show as much asset as she has.

By the way, their parents applied for a tourist visa and they stated that they'll help with the baby.

12/13 - Sputum Final Result (Negative)

12/21 - Interview at Embassy (Approved)

12/28 - Visa Picked Up from 2GO

12/28 - CFO

12/30 - POE (LAX)

Of course she can apply for a visitor's Visa. As you know, it's very hard to get one from Nigeria but I have heard that lately a lot of mothers have been approved to come over and help with the baby.

If you are worried about you sending the letter because you are not a US citizen, have your wife invite her.

3/16/2012 - case sent to my local USCIS office for additional processing

4/21/2012 - AP. If we haven't heard from them in SIX MONTHS (omg) we can feel free to call them!!! Thanks!

9/20/2012 - Interview scheduled - October 3!!!!

10/3/2012 - Interview went well but she must look at his A-file more before decision.

10/12/2012 - I-130 APPROVED! APPROVED! APPROVED!

04/20/2012: NOA107/20/2012: instead of an approval, we got thrown into AP. sigh

11/01/2012: Boys' I-130 interview set for November 28, 2012.

03/20/2013: Interview - was told the boys would have been approved on the spot if they had pics! Errrr :-(

04/15/2013: DNA test

05/15/2013: Emailed embassy BEGGING them to let boys drop off passports for visa insertion. IT WORKED!!!

05/31/2013: Visa in hand

06/02/2013: POE JFK!!!!!!
