Hello, I am US born and I will have a child in a couple of months. I applied for my wife for an I-30 to get her to the states. I have moved to Egypt about a year ago and been here ever since. If I have my child in Egypt(which looks like it taking how long it takes for the visa to come through) can I have my new born child automatic US citizenship even if I lived outside the states more then 1 year? It's my first time living outside of the states, I lived ther all 25 years of my life.

Your child will automatically be a US citizen.

You, a US citizen who has lived 25 years in the US, meet the 5 years US residency requirement to pass US citizenship on to your child born abroad.

You will need to report your child's birth to US Embassy by filing a Consular Report of Birth Abroad to obtain a US passport for your child. Here is the link to the US Embassy in Egypt; http://egypt.usembassy.gov/consular/crb_inst.html
