Processing times

Hey everyone,

I had a question about processing times. It says on the USCIS wesbite that K1 times for both service centers that are processing applications (California/Vermont) are still doing apps from April 11, 2006.

It said that applicants will have to wait at least until the processing times are caught up with when they submitted, to hope to receive an NOA2.

It also said that applications are grouped together by likeness (straight forward/more difficult) I assume.

Now my question... :D

After researching this a bit, I found there are plenty of cases that received an NOA2 before the processing times even hit their month. What causes this? Does anyone know?

Thanks so much,

Jackie

Ours did. When we were checking it before our NOA 2 it said they were processing March 6, 2006 and I received my visa 2 weeks ago.

You can't really get any answer from that, since every case is individual and we received our NOA 2 , three months after our NOA 1.

This seems to come up a lot.

Essentially, if you look, the posted processing times are always six months back from the date they were posted. This is the time limit that USCIS has for itself when completing applications. They are essentially covering their rear ends by putting it at the furthest limit of when they are required to have it completed by. Many, if not MOST applications get completed far prior to these dates, especially at Vermont. This way, if someone who applied in say May calls up to complain about the long wait, they can say 'well you aren't past the posted time yet, wait a month'.

I don't know if that's helpful or not, but that seems the general case.

Our K-1 Visa/AOS/RoC timeline can be found here.

It seems that the avg. processing times is around 60-70 days from NOA1 & NOA2 but it leaving CSC could take another 4-6 weeks.. Once it gone from there I think things go faster.. or at least it seems too since you know whats coming next..embassy, packets, interview etc.,

So don't worry about them....they are always using high numbers to CYA

I was nebraska/california and as you can see from my time line I got my noa2 and my noa1 date was July. I feel guilty about saying that since there are so many waiting but I am just trying to illustrate that sometimes things happen and I think those dates are a guide not hard data.

Hi guys,

You are fortunate in that you have found the place where you CAN get some very good information about this process every step of the way. Just by comparing the timelines here with the report published by USCIS, you can see that their report is pure misinformation. As another poster mentioned, it is strictly CYA and LMA (leave me alone!). That is the true USCIS policy towards us petitioners. CSC is processing applications received from April through September. That is what you can see by looking here.

The bad news is that the process remains highly variable and unpredictable by individual. There's a lot of luck involved and you may get an opportunity to build character through remaining calm and upbeat as you watch others being processed and approved while you are inexplicably motionless for a long time. The other bad news is that is it completely worthless to call the customer service line because they will tell you exactly what you see by looking in their online system for yourself and CANNOT pass along any question you may have to the CSC. Oh yeah, and their online information and email notifications are also pretty unreliable so you never know when that NOA2 may appear without warning in your mailbox.

The good news is that this site is a fount of information about processing timelines, embassy interviews, and any question you may have. Also good is that the NOA2 timeline published here is longer than your expected time because of the backlog of IMBRA petitions (delayed 3 extra months) being completed. You simply need to look at the range of individual timelines to get a sense of your expected time.

So now you can only wait patiently for your NOA1 to arrive in the mail. It may be today or a month from the day you sent it in. You're at the start of a long process and I wish you luck!
