Ok so I am a newbie and i file my I-129f k-1 visa app in june they received it jun, 15. 2012 they only response other than the receipt I got in mail is a request for a copy of my fiance's passport which i got in july since then i have not heard anything. i call at least once a month to check my status and check online evryday nothing ever changes. should i be worried? can you walk in to a field office and ask to view your case? and am I going to have to file a I-134 support avdt. Im worried about that one because I dont make that much money but my fiance is an engineer and im sure he will get a great job once here but what ever our situation he would never become dependant on the government for living exspenses

According to your timeline: Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between December 20, 2012 and December 26, 2012*.

So that's when you can anticipate your case will be adjudicated, although given it's right around the holiday season, it may be earlier or very possibly later. Calling every month seems like a practice in futility since you're not going to get any more information from the phone drones on the status of your case.

On the affidavit of support, the petitioner has to file that, yes. If you don't earn enough to support your household, you should look into if the embassy/consulate where your fiancé will interview accepts co-sponsors.

Instead of calling the USCIS, be sure to spend time looking ahead at the next steps. Getting the petition approved is just the first of many hurdles you and your partner will be jumping over, so be prepared for what's next by reading the guides, reading the embassy/consulate reviews, the POE reviews, etc.

Good luck!

Remember that your fiance's assets are not important, only yours. Being an engineer is a plus but if you dont the minimum of the poverty line for your household you will need a co sponsor.

If your household is just yourself and your fiancé, then it is $18,912. The amount goes up as the household count increases. You can view the 2012 poverty guidelines here: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf
