Good luck to you, you're very sweet.

Maybe thisis out of topic but I think you are such a great future husband. You are quitting everything you know to give her a chance to spend more time with her family, that is sosweet. Some people in this topic FORGETS that we ( the foreign fiances and spouse) have to quit everything we know to be with our loveone(US citizen). Nobody seems to care everything we have to deal with in order to be here. Maybe some our countries are mot perfect, compare to the US, but still that's our home. I truly love this country but I cant help missing my family, my friends, my culture. I think that's a gesture of true love and can stop thinking that your lady is a very lucky girl. Wishing you the best and tons if blessings in your journey together

Once your wife gets citizenship (after 3 years if she stays married to you) I believe it cannot be revoked. So you could live in Indonesia for 10 years, come back to the US for 10 years , etc etc.

I could be wrong though.

The US does not really care about dual citizenship, however I would check out what Indonesia's laws regarding dual citizenship are. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indonesian_nationality_law#Losing_Indonesian_citizenship This is just wikipedia which is an unreliable source, but I would urge your fiancee to do some research on Indonesian nationality law. There are a few countries, such as Japan, that do not allow for dual citizenship or have very strict requirements for it. Indonesia might be such a country and obtaining American citizenship might be cause for them to revoke her Indonesian citizenship. Again this is just from unofficial sources, I could be totally wrong- which is why she should check Indonesia's official government website or some other reliable source.

Oh, we already know it doesn't allow dual citizenship. We will go there as American citizens and stay on work visas or something like that.

An additional consideration (for us, an older couple) is the fact that a survivor can collect social security in a foreign country as a citizen while as a greencard holder the requirement is five years of actual residence confrmed through entry stamps.

Ssomething to consider if you have a long work history in the US aand your spouse's country does not have much of a safety net. This only applies if you are married at the time of your death, if things don't go so well citizenship also cancels i-864 obligations.

And you get to vote - such a de,al.
