Does anyone know what a JOP ceremony is like? Was the scene from Sex & The City pretty accurate when Carrie & Big finally got married? What about Cameras? Can cameras come into the courtroom for a marriage?

Depending on the courthouse they will let you do it anywhere on the grounds inside or outside. As far as cameras again depends on the courthouse as most do not let electronics inside, it may not be an option. The best thing to do is call the courthouse you will be going to and as.

I can't really say. Everyone in my family JOPed it up though! I'd rather have a wedding, but we can't afford it and my mom backed out on paying for it so what do? Try and find a pretty city hall? Not all city halls are created equal. For example, we are most likely going to do San Francisco because that is gorgeous! Head down the block to any neighboring city, not so much.

Where we are, we went into the judges chambers, behind us was the court room, he sat in his seat, spoke to us, did the vows, signed the papers and that was it. Before we got in there we were put through a metal detector and had a full security scan/ check done on us.

It wasn't quite like the sex and the city wedding. It was very quick, quite impersonal really though our judge did say some lovely things about marriage and as we had no witnesses we had to pay $10 each to the judges secretaries who were our witnesses :P

For us, they had a little wedding chapel. The county clerk had a marriage official conduct the ceremony. Very painless. Don't forget to bring a witness. Don't do like somebody we know, and bribe a homeless guy to be a witness. Needless to say, that wedding didn't last. I don't even think it was ever consummated.

you can get anything you want at a JoP wedding

if

you pay the right honorarium to the Judge, in advance.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
