Hi everyone, I recently filed I-130/485 and received NOAs and a biometrics notice from USCIS.

My husband and I are planning a few trips in the USA by plane. He raised this question that I would be ok with my passport when I check in cause my I-94 expired a bit after USCIS received my forms. So my case is still pending. Do you think I can travel domestically without any problem? OR should I carry my passport / and all the evidences from USCIS related to my filing just in case?

and the 2nd question is I can't find my case status either online or on the phone even though I received reciepts numbers in mail. Should I wait longer? How long did it take for your cases to appear online?

3rd question, my husband is trying to put me on his medical insurance. and his company said they need my SSN number which I don't have. Right now my case is pending and i have no work permit yet. Is there any way I still can get a SSN no. or should I wait until I get EAD?

4th question, my husband is a US citizen and I'm the applicant for benefits. So for biometrics service - he doesn't have to go with me? Does that mean I can go by myself?

Thank you very much in advance!

1. You can travel within the US yes.

2. Mine were already in the system by the time I received my NOAs because they took three weeks to arrive from my filing date.

3. No, you have to have the EAD or GC in order to get the SSN, whichever comes first.

4. Only the beneficiary, you, is required to go for biometrics. You bring your husband only for the interview.

You can't get your SSN, but for the purposes of health insurance you can request a temporary ID number from either your husband's HR department or the insurance company. Most companies will do that for you, unless they have some requirement that you be a US citizen to participate in the health plan.
