it's been more than 6 months since I filed I751.the online status is "Initial review" . how long does it take for the 10 yr green card to arrive ?

and can I travel to Canada with expired green card? I have an NOA states that "Your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year". I understand that I can return to US with expired GC and this NOA. but can I enter Canada with expired greencard and NOA? I am not canadian citizen, and I am required to use US greencard to enter Canada.

thank you.

You are well within current processing times. You can check these here: http://dashboard.uscis.gov/

They are currently processing cases from December/January 2012 for VSC and California a bit quicker. I'm not sure about CSC exactly as I was a VSC filer, but it looks like they are starting to work on March/April 2012 cases right now.

If you have your NOA extension letter you are good to travel with that and your greencard. Make sure you take the original letter with you, and NOT use a copy. The letter basically confirms that your LPR status has been extended for a year and your GC is all good. When I travelled earlier this year before approval no one ever even asked for the letter! I had to keep forcing it on customs officials!

Our journey:

11th October 2012: APPROVED!

24th February 2012: Biometrics appointment

8th February 2012: Touch

24th January 2012: Biometrics NOA date (received 30th)

19th January 2012: Check cashed by VSC

17th January 2012: NOA date (received 20th)

14th January 2012: ROC delivered via USPS to VSC

13th January 2012: Filed for ROC

Earliest date to remove conditions: Friday, December 2, 2011

9th March 2010: GC in hand

1st March 2010: Interview 8.40am APPROVED!

1st March 2010: EAD arrives, along with daughters US passport

15th January 2010: Biometrics appointment

10th December 2009: Filed for AOS

It depends. Have you received anything besides the NOA 1? I'd say wait for another 3 months and see if there are any updates. Past 10 month you might want to start calling and be prepared to push them.

And yes you can certainly travel. Make sure you bring the card, the ORIGINAL NOA and your passport.

PS my I751 is still in "Initial Review" while I already past my N-400 oath ceremony, 2 months ago.

USCIS is a joke.

I can't trust the processing times and the status report with USCIS. We're filing in Vermont and initially mailed our application on February 28th and my wife had her biometrics the following month. We're still in the 'initial processing' stage as well, but like I said before, I can't trust it. The reason that I can't trust the status is becuase the status of her initial green card which she received 2 years ago is still showing up as 'we received your application' in the system.

It is the same with mine. I believe many people are in the same boat. The best indication for any approvals or any movement in both service centers is following up on this forum. If someone is approved for a particular date/month we can easily assume that they are working on applications for this month. Do not follow the USCIS website, follow the activity on this website for each particular month.

Even that isn't very precise, unfortunately. I filed in December, the website still says "initial review," and I'm waiting...while people in January and even February are getting approved. I'm truly happy for them, of course, but I'm starting to get concerned about my status. I just know from experience that calling the USCIS number doesn't get you very far. I'll give it until the month changes over, then will start looking into it seriously.

April CSC filers are being approved now. Some are late April, some early April. My NOA1 date is April 6. I have yet to be approved but others in my filing group from later HAVE been approved and received their card.

Yours should be pretty soon, I mean CSC now is approving march and aprils filers, as a matter of fact they are almost through march and begun in april. VSC is actually moving faster now, they are approving January and February, they actually started february not long ago. Don't trust the dates in the website they are way off. Don't get nervouse, it will get approved when you don't know about it.
