Good share but rethink not answering calls from Nigeria.

I answer all calls unless the ones that I;ve specifically blocked (relatives hounding me for money) just in case I need tobe reacehd in an emergency.

What I will not do is send any money or entertain any of their stupid scamming ploys.

I've read of this before on this site.

Yup, best bet is his password was retrieved at an internet cafe, using a keylogging program.

then all of his email was available to this caller's gang.

if your fella can get into a university computer lab, soonish, to change his password - that'd be a cool thing.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

May want to have the USC report it to the Embassy - time, who they called, from which number, demanding what. ACS in consular or bring it to the attention of the ambassador and he/she will task people to get to the bottom of the problem.

I know we all know about the 419 scams and all the other scams that are rampant in Nigeria, I'm not naieve to them, but I want to share this experience I had today.

I just received a very disturbing phone call from Nigeria. The man said he was from the Consulate and he had my forms. But he needed payment of fees. BUT I HAVEN'T SENT ANY FORMS YET! So I told him "let me call you back" and he said "Why? Are you very busy right now? Because this is very important." I said "yes, I will call back." He asked "when?" I said "about twenty minutes." He said "ok but this is very important matter."

So I called my fiance. Julius told me not to accept any calls from Nigeria unless I know it is him (Julius). He said there are men in his country making a very bad name for Nigeria. (But I know all about the scams already. He nows that I know. Yet he feels he needs to keep telling me and protecting me). Julius called the number and told the man he has been reported for fraud and "we know you called an American asking for money." He said the man denied calling. Julius asked him where he was calling from and the man hung up.

Julius said no one knows (except family) we are making plans to file our petition so it must be connected to the cyber cafe somehow, where he went to print out the forms and letter of intent. He told me the people there would not let him print from his laptop and said he had to forward the forms to be printed. But we are trying to figure out where my phone number is. I sent him a copy of one of the forms I filled out so he could help me check it for accuracy. My number may have been on it.

Julius told me the scammers are very clever and he's not quite sure how they get all their information but he warned me again not to send any money to anyone even if they sound very convincing, not to answer nigerian phone calls, and we are going to rethink how we use the cyber cafes. Again... I know you all know this already (as do I) but just want to pass it on.

wow!!! We have lots of them in Nigeria one has to be careful.i can bet with my life is from the cyber cafe cos that's what they do..they store pple's info in their system and use them(too bad).I have my printer, laptops, flash drives all at home with me and Neva let them out of my sight.i recommend to print directly from ur email if u have to use a cyber cafe then after sending it off for printing u sign out and don't leave rough copies in their trash can.Honestly it's a shame for Nigeria. I have also had my own fair share of these scammers so I can Neva be a victim.

Good job!

God is love!

I haven't had a scammer call since I told one that he needed to pick the money up from my uncle work worked for some company called EFCC . It seemed to have even dropped me from most of the odd email lists. I think all cyber cafes have keyloggers at best. As to the relatives asking for money, most only know a cell number to a phone that is normally in the off postition. Calls to the regular phone are usually ok.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Sad! Don't rule out all Nigerian numbers just in case your husband has an emergency and needs you to be contacted. But with that regard, you should know a close group of his friends and family and be able to distinguish their voices on the phone also.

Thanks for the heads-up! It is always beneficial to us all.

You should tell your husband to be careful leaving information like that open/save on public computers especially in internet cafe. The information that we are all including in these forms are leaving us very vulnerable. Along time ago an ex of my mine was chatting with me from an internet cafe. He must of not logged out completely because next thing you know I'm being contacted by some random guy who wants to provide me with information about my ex boyfriend if I send him money LMAO... oh Nigerians! You should of have just played along and tell them your what they want to whatever address they give you.So that way they have to pay money for transportation to go try and collect something that is not there. Thats the best way to deal with these scammers especially the low level ones. Let them run around until they realize they are the foolish ones

Wow! thanks for sharing...my husband sometimes goes to the cyber cafe and I have told him about this and that he needs to be very careful with leaving any papers, making sure he logs out and etc..he has a lap top but he needs the printer from the cafe...anyway I appreciate the heads up! These bad Nigerians are really making it hard for the good ones :(
