Hello everyone,

I had the interview yesterday and would love to share my experience.

We arrived at the location early in the morning as the notice said to be there at 7:30. We then went through the security check, and one of the guards showed me a box and told me to leave the interview letter there. I did that and then sat in the waiting room when an immigration officer came out and took the letters. At that point, there were only three of us waiting, and I got called first. My husband stayed in the waiting room.

The interview was very quick (15 minutes), and the lady was extremely professional. It was just like in that video that USCIS has on its Web site. First I got sworn in and then we started with the test: six questions, one sentence to read and one to write. These were my questions:

1. Where is the Statue of Liberty?

2. Name two national U.S. holidays.

3. What movement tried to end racial discrimination?

4. Who was the first President?

5. Who is the Governor of your state now?

6. What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen?

The sentence I had to read was, “When is Presidents’ Day?”

The sentence I had to write was, “American Indians lived here first.”

Then we went over my application, and basically, I only had to confirm what was written there. The lady asked if I had any other documents (bona fide marriage), and I added our apartment lease, a letter from our landlady, and copies of quarterly estimated tax payments for 2012. Those seemed to be sufficient.

Then I signed my photos and confirmed that the spelling of my name and other info were correct for the naturalization certificate. She mentioned that it might take 2-3 months to have the Oath (I am not sure if she meant the letter or the Oath itself, but this does not really matter because we were more than happy with the interview results).

We were back in the vehicle at 7:50. :)

WOW!!! that was easy. Way to go!
