Thinking about a visit back home

I'm trying to arrange for a trip back to the UK early next year, for my 27th birthday! Yay! :D If I make it, then it will be the first time I've been home in two years - but whos counting, I love Seattle! :P Hopefully it will all work out!

My question is, passport is in maiden name (and doesn't expire for years!), greencard is in married name. I assume that I would book tickets in maiden name, to match the passport and stop the airline throwing a tantrum. Do I need to travel internationally with a copy of my marriage certificate for when I come back to the US? Otherwise my passport and greencard will have different names, and no paperwork to show why.

Just thought I would ask what those of you who have already travelled back home have done in this situation. Thanks! :D

01/10/05 - Arrived back in US

01/26/05 - Got Married! WooHoo!

02/14/05 - Had Medical Exam

02/22/05 - Filed for AOS in Seattle, in person

03/31/05 - Got EAD!!

04/02/05 - Biometrics and Fingerprinting

05/19/05 - AOS Interview - awaiting decision...

08/24/05 - (conditional) Permanent Resident

09/08/05 - Passport stamped in Seattle

09/19/05 - Recieved actual Greencard! YAY!!!

05/24/07 - 90 days to remove conditions starts!

06/02/07 - Filed I-751, California Service Center

08/09/07 - Biometrics and Fingerprinting

08/28/07 - I-751 Approved & conditions are removed!

09/12/07 - Recieved 10 year Greencard! YEAH!!!

Just carry a copy of your Marriage certificate to show the link in the names and you should be fine.... other option is to have your passport amended to show your married name... it can be done at the UK embassy in Washington..

Hope you have a wonderful trip back home... we went on our first trip home in almost 2 years just last month for my birthday... it was wonderful..

Know exactly how excited you must be feeling, I've been here since Sept 2004 and not made it back yet (hope to rectify that in April 2007) my mums 88 Friday so its yet another birthday I've missed. I too will be travelling on maiden name passport with marriage certificate.

Have a wonderful trip

We're planning on having a huge party the first weekend in March, I'll make sure that your Mum & Becks get their invites, it would be a lot of fun to see them! I am really looking forward to going home :D
