Had my biometrics appt yesterday at 3. So after a 2 hour drive me and hubby arrived at the office ... EMPTY. I was in and out in less then 10 minutes. So we decided to go downtown Norfolk, have some coffee and walk around for a bit... Calling USCIS military helpline today to see if we can expedite my EAD.

Also I've been having some trouble getting my drivers license. It should be easy since I hold a German drivers license and I can just exchange it for a Virginia DL. But for some reason they make it so complicated. First they had to check with German authorities, then they faxed everything to USCIS to verify my documents. The 3rd time at the DMV they had to fax USCIS my NOA1 but they replied saying that there's a problem, they will call me within the next 48 hrs. I guess I don't appear in the system??? I have no idea.

I can't check my online status either!

I can't get my name changed on my ss card.

I can't get a pennsylvania ID!

And I can't wait for this to be over so I don't need to worry about all this cr$p!

It's seriously getting frustrating!

At least we are finally together and my husband is such an amazing person :)

We can't look our case up online either  , but had our biometrics yesterday in Indianapolis and it went pretty smoothly. There were quite a few people there and I think they took at least 6 people back when my husband went but it took maybe half an hour from start to finish.

It IS a long and often frustrating journey, but it is well worth it. :)

Hi everyone,

A small update from my side. Last Friday, I turned to my congressman for his assistance in expediting the EAD application process (I received a really good job offer). On Monday I received a phone call from his office saying that they touched base with the MSC and put their request in regards to my case. Yesterday evening around 5PM I received an email saying:

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

On December 4, 2012, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you

I took less than 3 working days to have my case updated! It means that I will be able to accept the job offer I start there once I receive the EAD! Reaching out to your congressman when you have a serious reason to have your pending application expedited seems to work just fine!

Also, I went to a local DMV to inquire about the possibility to get my DL now (before the arrival of EAD which might easily take up to 10 days) and they were perfectly OK with that. Got my vision and knowledge test taken care of on the spot and am taking the skills test next Wednesday! Finally I will be able to have a US-issued ID.

So happy :)

First,I called the congressman's office for instructions. Then I filled out a casework authorization form (found on his official website) and faxed it in along with the offer letter, the NOA1 for I-765 and the stamped biometrics appointment letter.

Well, my husband's NOA1 date is October 1, so I suppose we belong in this forum. We are getting pretty antsy, being that we had read so many times that EAD would take about 60 days. Nothing yet. I just pray it doesnt take as long as the whole K1 process. Good luck to all that are waiting with us.
