Does anybody have any idea of how long before they schedule an interview for AOS? Is it based on local office schedule or is there something else that dictates it? Just getting little antsy...filed in late October and still nothing(did bio in early December for AP/EAD)

When we called 800 number in December after biometrics the tier 2 operator who had lots more knowledge than the level 1 operator told us that we would most likely be in the interview waivable I 485 category. This helps since we don't want to travel anywhere too long only to get a interview notice.

N-400 Journey

May 12 2016 - Filed N-400 (new version of form)

May 16 2016 - Received by Phoenix Lock Box

May 18 2016 - Received SMS and Email confirmation

June 10 2016 - Biometrics

Feb 15 2017 - Service Request, response "additional delays"

Feb 15 2017 - Escalation to US Senator ####### Durbin

Mar 01 2017 - Response from Durbins' office - "delayed due to security checks"

April 06 2017 - Emails / SMS received - Interview scheduled

May 15 2017 - Interview - approved in 20 minutes

May 31 2017 - Oath Ceremony

Ajacks according to your timeline you filed a a K1 (which does mean youre eligible for AOS approval w/o an interview) So I dont know why the level 2 operator would say you were most likely interview waiver-able- you definitely fit into that category. Also it shows you are able to access your 485 online through my case status.

When you access your case it should show where youre currently being processed. If its showing initial review or acceptance at the National Benefits Center or as its referred to here the NBC, then thats where you would get approved w/o an interview. You would 'jump' right from that step to 'decision'

If its not showing youre at the NBC in initial review or acceptance and rather it shows youre in the testing/interview stage it means you have been selected for an interview at your local office.

If you have concerns about traveling and not knowing about if and when the interview will occur, you can sign up for case updates. If and when something changes on your case- like it gets transferred to the local office, they will notify you. Until then however you should be able to travel as you wish, even once it is transferred to a local office and they send you a notice for an interview it wont be the next day, its similar to the biometrics apt notice- they give you plenty of advance notice. Check the timelines for processing times at your local office. You can see how long the differences are in dates from the transfer dates between the dates people reported after being transferred to the local office and the interview date they received at your local office for a general idea.

Hello everyone, just wanted to let y'all know about our interview experience. We arrived about an hour early, and they called us right at the time of the appt. the officer asked us each others name and bithdates. She asked a few of the questions on the I485 application. She took copies of all the documents I took: leases, bank accounts, life, car and health insurance. She looked through all of our pics and took about 5, the ones that had dates and from the wedding. She said we should receive the card in the mail in 3-4 weeks. Also asked how we met. Took 10 minutes. I am guessing we are approved(?). Good luck to all of you!!!

Thanks for the help and advice - I really appreciate it. Maybe we are just overly nervous since they did not clearly state that we are the interview waivable k1 category. :) The tier 2 operator said we could call back in March or April as that would be 6 months.

So just came back from interview, approved thank God. We had so much stuff that we took with us and the IO did not take one thing, except 1-94,from us.We got there a little b4 our time 7:15 am got called at 7:15 and we were out by 7:20 taps. Wejust could not believe it. So happy. Well here is what Happened. The IO (male) swore us in,asked our names,my 1-94 and passport. And went through the yes no questions. He also confirmed that we had two children and birth dates did not even ask for BCs. maybe becaz they were right there with us.The IO never smiled once though, maybe it was too early? He went through the questions so fast I had to ask him a couple of times what he said. Anyways he says "congratulations you are approved" we said thank you and left. Dear lord. Anyways I am done, left with my letter which says I should get GC in 30-90 days. Thanks to you all fellow VJer's hoping the best for you as well.

Since you said citizenship, i'm assuming you've been married for more than 2yrs..? So you would actually be receiving a 10yr GC.. The citizenship part is alot less stressful, i've helped alot of friends through it, the main thing you have to do is stay on top of your taxes, DO NOT miss a year..
