Back in may I applied for a B2 visa to visit my boyfriend and do some tourism obviously on my 2 week break from work which was denied. I'm 22, on my 3rd year in college and I started a new job in February, so I had been working for just 3 months when I applied. The problem now is I'm not sure if I should try reapplying again right now, at that time they told me it was mostly because I hadn't been at my job long enough, but they didn't really look at any of the documents I brought all they did was ask me when the last time I saw my boyfriend was (which was in December last year) and they asked me about college a little and when I started at my job.

So anyway, my uncle lives in Miami and my grandmother wanted to go in January to visit, she hasn't been able to go for a while due to a heart condition and now the doctor let her go but she's afraid to go alone on the plane, so she wanted me to go with her so that I can see my boyfriend for a bit too. I'm a bit afraid of reapplying and I'm not really sure what I would say at the interview, since I would be going with my grandmother but then flying somewhere else to see my boyfriend until I get back (or that's the original plan). As of now by the time I apply I would've been at my job for 1 year and I would have another year of college done but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to go again so soon after denial (December) and to be going somewhere different. I don't want to lie on my application, since I'm horrible at lying so...Any comments on the situation would be useful, if anything I'll just go next year. We're seeing each other anyway because he's coming here in February, but this way we could've seen each other for 2 months straight, me going there for a month and then him coming here.

I'm sorry this is so long. Thanks for any help you can give me.

The only way of finding out is to apply and you only have the fee at risk.

If asked you can honestly say you were told to wait until you had been in your job longer and now you have.

Be aware that it would be uncommon for someone in a similar position in the US to get a month holiday. Presumably not an issue in Argentina.

There is no way to know what the outcome will be :(

The only thing you can do is apply and see.

Take all your proof of ties to your country! Can you get a letter from your employer saying you are required back on X day? ; A letter from your university stating you are still enrolled and when you are expected to be attending; An invitation letter from whomever you are seeing, your uncle, your boyfriend?

People apply days / weeks after being denied so you won't be penalized for applying again or anything like that.

Good luck!

I could get most of that, at least a letter from my employer, not sure about uni. What I'm worried about is that maybe the change of plans would make it look desperate, since I would be going with my grandma now to a different place and last time I was gonna go on my own, and not sure wether I should mention visiting my boyfriend also. I'm just paranoid in general. Thanks for the answers so far, last time I didn't bring some things that I know now would've been useful (if they had actually looked at the documents :P )

Hola,

Did you mention before that you were going to visit your boyfriend? If so, I believe it is not going to be easy to get a tourist visa since they are going to be concern that you'll stay in the country. However, you won't lose anything by trying again.

Hope everything works for you! I know how frustrating is dealing with the Consulate in Buenos Aires..

I did mention it because I figured going alone for tourism was stranger than actually knowing someone there, I guess not wanting to lie ends up being more of a problem, it's ironic.

Unfortunately, sometimes is ironic as you said. I was away from my wife for almost one year for being honest, for trying to do everything in the best possible way. However, if you guys manage your way to still be together, if he can come visit you a couple more times, I am sure that being honest at the beginning we'll allow you to be together in the future. Dealing with the U.S immigration when you are dating a U.S citizen is not easy, it seems the only way is by getting married or applying for a Fiance Visa. Dating in site is not an option for the U.S embassy. At least, I have never heard of one case of someone getting a visa for visiting their boyfriend/girlfriend.

Hope everything works for both of you, do never give up!!!!

Thanks a lot for all the answers =). I really do hope everything works out in the end, despite all the things we have to go through now just to see each other for a while. I guess I'll try again if I'm up for it by December, but I won't overthink it because it just ends up making me more upset than it's necessary.
