hi everyone, i was reading a topic today about one of those petitioners who got their petition denied - on basis of no parental consent given on the part of the beneficiary which will make her free to marry anyone as she is only 19 yrs old (she's a Filipina and per Phil.law, anyone below the age of 24 needs parental consent to marry). anyway what ticked my curiosity is about the CENOMAR (certificate of no marriage), which was being mentioned in one of the entries somewhere in the forum. my question is - even you're single, and above the age of 24 - do you still need to get a CENOMAR? my fiance is Filipino and is 35 years old and has never been married. so does he need to apply for a CENOMAR to prove he's free to marry?

Your fiancé will need a CENOMAR for his Embassy interview, and mostly likely he'll need one for the CFO seminar too.

Yes as a proof that she's free to marry and have not contracted marriage previously.

Good luck!

Parental consent under the Philippine Family Code and CENOMAR are two separate entities. The CENOMAR is required for the interview by all whom have never been married.
