If your are Canadian you can travel to the US either way.

Thanks for your immidiate reply,

my situation is little bit different here. I am not a canadian citizen, still 14 months to go to become canadian. If i will go to states i have to cancel either one. As per us rule i have to stay in there for 6 months 1 day to maintain my residency. And physically its next to impossible to maintain residency in both the countries.

I dont wanna surrender my canadian residency so i was just thinking about it. I havent decided yet but i need some advise on this.

Thanks,

You can enter the USA on visa get green card then return to Canada. You would file for a re-entry permit. Is applied for same way as advance parole using form I-131. A re-entry permit allows leave for more than 6 months. Note the instructions with I-131 indicate it is not needed for leave of up to a year nto 6 months.
