hey guys,

do we get packet 4 via mail or just the email that we get?

our interview is november 15th can he go tomorrow 10/17/12 for his medical exam or is it too early? and what does he take to the medical?

You are suppose to receive it in the mail, however more than likely you won't so you can go and pick it up from the Consulate 15 business days before your interview. For the medical you need money, 3 passport size photo's, cedula, passport, and appointment letter. You can print the list from the embassy website.

I had my medical using the the USCIS letter that had my case number on it. Case is not yet complete at NVC. Just make sure your document has your case number and name on it.

No the appointment letter would be that from the Consulate showing the interview date. Not sure if here in the DR they will let you take the exam with out the actual letter with the interview date from on it. But never hurts to try it worst they could say is come back once you have the letter from the Consulate.

My guess is the main thing they want is the type written case number from the government to ensure a concrete connection between exam results and applicant. The interview date should not matter. Like reese1 said, you can simply check with the doctor if any government document with your case number and name is satisfactory.

Update, I called cause I was going to have my fiance go with the NOA2 approval as we are still stuck at the NVC with no interview date yet. And they told him that he will have to wait til he has the packet from the Consulate to do the exam. Now you know how some places can be, they will say one thing over the phone and do some thing else when you show up with cash in hand. So still it is up to you if you want to go and see if they will do it with just the NOA2 approval letter and SDO case number. IF you do and it does work make sure you post back. :)

Without the interview letter they will not let you get the medical exam. You can request a duplicate of packet 4 exactly 15 days before the interview which also includes weekeds. Since you appointment is nov 15 they will let you requet the packet Oct 31 and it will be ready to be picket up Friday nov 2. The latest your fiance can get the exam is 5 day before interview and if there are children is 8 days before interview. Did you get a letter from them the embassy or from NVC. The letter from NVC is not the letter your fiance needs for the medical exam.

They will not let you get the exam without the interview letter.

Call the department of state instead of NVC they are way more helpful and will tell you exactly what your interview date is and they will also tell you what is entered in the system at the consulate. 202-663-1225

What number can I call to request a duplicate? And Steph thanks for the inbox ur always a life saver ;) thank u all too for the heads up. It can be expensive going back and fourth and not getting anything done in DR.
