Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told CNN in an interview Monday that she—not the White House—takes responsibility for the security situation in Benghazi, Libya, ahead of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack there that claimed the lives of four Americans, including the ambassador.

One wouldn't expect Obama would be organizing security teams for embassy-type personnel, or Clinton for that matter.

Obamas problem IMO is not that this massive failure happened under his watch but rather his response.

THink about it, our ambassador was targeted and killed along with others and we have not even heard the old "We will hunt them down" speech.

Here it is a week later and the only thing the president has done is lock up a guy who put up the youtube vid that he used as a diversion.

How this has been handled has been a huge failure in leadership (at best) and that.... he owns.

Agreed. I don't expect the President to know about security at every embassy. But, once an attack happens, I expect him to find out as much as possible as soon as possible. They spent all their time telling the world that it was a protest over a video. Now we find out that they knew the first day that there was no protest, it was a planned terrorist attack.

Perhaps the State Department can take the blame for the security issue, but the blame for the response after the attack goes higher than Clinton.

I believe the truth to be located at the equant of all theories.

It is very easy to fall into the slippery slope of conspiracies and who-knew-what-when and find oneself trapped in the same machinations that led to the birth of the Truther movement, who used the same argument to blame the events of 9/11 squarely on the president, at the time.
