I've read a lot of posts here about all of these things you need to submit to show a bonafide relationship when sending in the I-130. If we go this route, I'm starting to sense you don't want to send in the I-130 right after a marriage. How can you add bank accounts, insurance, etc. if I wanted to submit the package the day after I return from getting married? Is it better to wait a few months before sending in the I-130 package?

The items on the instructions that you reference are suggestions, not requirements. USCIS will not expect a couple living apart in separate countries to have such items.

you are going to find a lot of conflicting opinions on this. I think if you can stand to wait then do it. Get married, come back to the USA and establish the documents and proof you need. Send wedding announcements, etc... open accounts and get solid proof of your ongoing relationship. Make sure all your ducks are in a row and you have strong proof before you file. Maybe even do a visit to your spouse again. Good Luck!

We sent our packet out a week after getting married here in the US. During the week after we got married, we went to add my husband to my American bank account and print copies of wedding photos. We basically had everything else ready to go. We had been in a relationship for a year and a half and had many visits to see each other with photos, passport page copies, boarding passes, etc. to prove we were in a legitimate relationship before getting married. Therefore, we didn't see a need to wait too long before sending in documents and haven't had a single problem the entire way :) Goof luck.

i sent ours in a month after (only bc i was waiting on some certs).....the only "shared" thing we had was our health insurance, and we each have an additional on our bank accounts, but we did that before we got married. also, one of our affidavits was from our roommate since we have never had a lease, we sent our emails, and made sure to include a variety of photos that included his and my family, etc. hope this helps!
