But that's not the point of Danno's thread and it ignores the obvious bigotry that is allowed in this forum. There's a theme to all these threads like asking whether people vote for Obama simply because he's black, or will there be riots if he loses election and that theme plays upon racial stereotypes of blacks. Anyone who isn't directly addressing that issue here is only enabling bigots like Danno to feel safe about being more open with expressing their bigotry.

Stereotypes are not devoid of any basis in fact, when applied to a group in general. Where they fail, is when they are applied to any particular individual. For instance you can make a note of how many obese people are in Mississippi, and say people from that state are typically overweight, but just because any one person is living in Mississippi, you would be wrong to charge them double for a seat in coach, without first asking them, "Is your butt wider than eighteen inches?"

Pretty good analogy. I have noticed that when I eat at Sonny's BBQ a large percent of the patrons are fat as opposed to when I am in applebees.

Same thing with Latino women over 40. Many of them tend to be overweight ti seems , more than then general population. ( just an observation not slamming Latino women as i think they are also some of the most beautiful women in the world)

90% of the violent crime in my MSRA is being committed by young black males, so no surprise they are more incarcerated and more crime happens in places the congregate. Conversely some of our most outstanding young citizens are black.

So yes you can make generalizations but you still have to respect an individual, unless they prove you different.
