You, the biologic parent can sign for your minor children.

When I petitioned my stepdaughter, my wife signed her own name (not her daughter's)...then placed (on behalf of minor child) after her signature. This was accepted with no problems.

Good luck with your case! Keep us posted!

Hi,

I am here in US together with my USC husband. He filed I-130 for me and my kids outside US. Mine was approved together with my AOS last month. We thought that our children's petition is being processed in California. I did not get my AOS approval on my first interview which was July 16 and after a week, we got a letter that the I-130 cases of our children was transferred to local USCIS office. I had my 2nd interview and finally get the approval after a day. Last week, we received letters from local USCIS asking the petitioner to come for an interview regarding his petitions to our children (his step kids). We saw in the letter that if the beneficiary is in the US, he can bring him/her with him and also if the relationship is a step relationship, to bring the original birth certificate of the child and marriage contract to prove the relationship.

One said that this is not normal processing of a petition.. does anybody here experienced this and what is the preparation needed for the interview?

Thanks and would appreciate hearing from you.

Just to double check timeline:

-You filed for adjustment of status from within the U.S. What visa did you enter on?

-USC husband filed I-130s for your children.

-1 child entered US on a tourist visa with pending I-130. Child is still in the U.S.

-You had 1st AOS interview

-Received notice that the children's cases were transferred to local office.

-You had 2nd AOS interview and were approved the next day.

-Your husband received notice he is to appear at the local office for an interview in regards to

your children's cases.

Is that correct?

Did the status of your son come up at any time during your interviews? Why did they need a 2nd interview?

I'm hoping someone else will come along so you can get a second opinion and more information about what to expect at the interview. It is normal for an I-130 filed in conjunction with an I-485 to be sent to a local office for an interview but it is out of the ordinary for stand alone I-130s.
