Can I travel?

My permanent residence card expires on November 5 and I just received the letter that says, 'Your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year. (This extension and authorization for employment and travel does not apply to you if you conditional resident status has been terminated.)...' Does that mean if my application isn't processed before Christmas that I can still travel home to Canada for the holidays and be let back in across the border while I wait?

To my understanding you can travel, the wording are kinda tricky but you should be good to go for another year for everything employment and travel.

I would suggest that you make an infopass appointment (http://infopass.uscis.gov/) and have them stamp your passport.

The letter extends your green card for another year, so your status is not terminated. You should be good to go.

Your Green card is extended for a year from the date it expires. So it's good until Nov 5th 2013

As stated here by others, that letter allows you to work and travel for another year until your ROC is processed. You should be receiving another letter which will be your biometric appointment.

My husband travelled home (to Australia) with the extension letter while he was waiting for his green card approval. He had no problems leaving and returning to the US.

Just make sure you take the letter with you everywhere Laura!
