I cant help you with the marraige thing. But with regards to the lawyer and this process....I dont think you need to spend the additional cash. This site can help you out VERY much! Do a likkle more research on here and ask around..you'd be amazed how much you can do youself. Just a thought.

I just married in Maypen Jamaica this year and we did it through the Registrar General's Department. This is where you file for your marriage liscense and they have a room decorated with a preacher. You have to schedule it, but the whole process (taxes, certificate, etc) was less than $200. It was nice, different than what we are use to here in the process, you stop and sign the paperwork before the rings are exchanged, but it was nice nonetheless and not expensive. I have found it very simple so far filling out the paperwork needed and submitting it to USCIS. I could not afford a lawyer and the information is so self explanatory..I only part I am having difficulty with so far is my phone records, he calls me on my landline and I cannot get a record of incoming calls without a subpoena, but can't get a subpoena without a court case which doesnt exist.

Good Luck and congratulations!!!
