I filed I-130 for my wife back in 2010 and after waiting for alomost 2 years, background check first, which took almost a year, and RFE, which took over 4 months, then file got transferred to local office. call after call, tens of service requests, filed compalin to congress man and senator, infopasses and finally Ombudsman's office, saw a light at the end of the tunnel. Last week, it was 8:am when I got a call from a very polite and respected lady telling me that she is taking care of my case and she wants me to see her at the local USCIS office for a short interview. The main reason that my petition took that long is because of my proxy marriage. I went 20 minutes earlier to the local office. I called her and she came down to let me enter the building cause i dont have any sort of pass or appointment letter. She accompanied me to her office and have me sit and asked me to raise my right hand and swear under oath. she gave me bunch of forms and affidavits and have me answer all the questions. Follwing that she asked me several questions about our relation, how many times did I see my wife before and after proxy marriage and other questions. I really appreciate this lady for her professional attitude and understanding. During the interview, she was a good listner and a very dedicated officer. At the end of the interview, she asked me to sign all the forms and gave her some of the original missing documents (which I already sent) and asked me to have a seat at the waiting area till she sumbit the result of the interview or a report with the new original documents I brought, to her boss for final approval of my petition.

i waitied at the waiting area for over an hour and kept my finger crossed to hear from her after waiting for over 2 years.....my friend origianll suggested to me to attend the interview with a lawyer. I called 2 different lawyers and each of them for $1500.00. Between me and u my previous lawyer did nothing in the past, and I was the one who was guinding her to respond to the RFE and four pages of cover letter cost me $2500.00 and that's why I decided to attend the interview by myself and answer all the question cause every thing was clear black and white.

she ( the USCIS officer ) finally came to me and said " congrats ...... your petition is approved.............. u cant imagine my happiness when heard the news of my approval ... at the time I wish I hug her and lift her off the ground, the way Scot Van ( Florida Pizza shop owner), who gave our commander in chief ( president Obama) a bear hug and lift him off the ground. I was in tears of joy for such unexpected surprise from my local office.

I never even read the approval notice, cause I was soooo happy ...but I after i stepped out, I noticed that the first name of my wife is misspelled. the first letter of my wife supposed to be N instead of M......I talked to my friends and they told me NVC deals with the case number and not with names. Accoring to them (my friends) as long as the data base and the original NOA1 is shwoing the correct name, the misspelled name doesnt matter..

I have some questions and exepect my VJ friends to answer it based on their experience .

1. Approval notice of the I-130 is showing the wrong first name of my wife (first letter of my wife's first name is misspeled) should I go back the USCIS office again and ask them to get me a new one with a correct name or have NVC correct it later on ?

2. How long I am gonna wait till NVC recieve my petition from the USCIC ?

3. Is NVC going to contact me by e-mail or snail mail?

4. I went thru RFE with USCIS and am I gonna do the same with NVC, meaning will NVC ask me for RFE again?

5. Do I have to send all the original docuemnts to NVC, if the answer is Yes, are they gonna ship it back to me?

6. What is the time frame from the approval of I-130 till the interview date ?

I look forward to hear from you.

I look forward to hear from you.

Well congratulations. Come to the NVC filers thread read post #1 and post #2 so you know what to do next.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/391875-nvc-filers-october-2012/

1. Approval notice of the I-130 is showing the wrong first name of my wife (first letter of my wife's first name is misspeled) should I go back the USCIS office again and ask them to get me a new one with a correct name or have NVC correct it later on ?

You can correct that when you call and get case# and IIN# and also when you send in DS-230 you can correct name.

2. How long I am gonna wait till NVC recieve my petition from the USCIC ?

It can take a few days but iots usually 2 weeks to get case# you have to call read the post

3. Is NVC going to contact me by e-mail or snail mail?

Email listed on the I-130 but that will be way long time. you have to call read tyhe post

4. I went thru RFE with USCIS and am I gonna do the same with NVC, meaning will NVC ask me for RFE again?

No differnent information goes to NVC. If you fixed tthe RFE why would you think another. Just send in what is needed and double check. Ask questions here and you will be fine.

5. Do I have to send all the original docuemnts to NVC, if the answer is Yes, are they gonna ship it back to me?

Yes originals are required. They give them back at interview. Also you include a photocopy for their records.

6. What is the time frame from the approval of I-130 till the interview date ?

Who knows dear its about how fast NVC invoices your AOS and IV BILL you pay get documents in. That usually is about 1 month than waiting on interview depending on embasssy can be another 1 to 3 months.

Congrats

Hi there........I am soooooo sorry to hear the news of the denail of your petition ? was there any document missing from the RFE u submitted... In my case, my lawyer told me to send 2 or 4 pictures, 2 phone bills and seleceted documents. I took my folder from her and sent them around 400 pics, 100 pages of phone logs and other stuff. The weight of the RFE docuemtns I shipped in response to my RFE is around 9 pounds.............................thankx God after all this, at least, they gave me a chance to be interviewed and finally got approved.
