Ok, anyone got any ideas where I'd report this to? I'm checking Google...

Bill

If I (the OP) were a fraudster, I would not be posting my information here with my photos etc, (unless i was REALLY stupid, as I believe USCIS probably monotirs this site).

Maybe I've been sloppy in my choice of language. I meant the guy you spoke to, not you.

hehe - OK, OP = Original Poster

Whatever is going on, it's the restaurant owner pulling the strings. The taxi guy is a slob and a lowlife but he appears to be a pawn in whatever scheme the restaurant guy has in mind. It sounds like some kind of bait and switch where this USC is being lured somewhere on a false promise. What actually happened when he arrived is anybody's guess. His drunken behavior shows that he is a perfect target for a major rip-off. My guess is he is already suffering the consequences of his foolishness.

The most important person to check into would be the restaurant guy. The problem is you don't really have a clue who he is or what has happened and so I doubt you will get anywhere. For that reason it's probably not worth pursuing.

Thats something I did not think of... but I can't imagine any other motive for this 'restraunt owner', (or anyone else), to be luring an low-life alcoholic cab driver from LA to Vietnam... certainly not for ransom... but then, maybe someone paid to get rid of the guy... hehe.

Bill

PS I remember the 'restraunt owner' pretty well too, and he accompanied the cab driver on and off the flight as well as I remember and I'm sure there are videos if it came to that.

Who really cares? It's not like this is a shocker or anything...sadly, this stuff happens all the time, which is the reason why they are deemed 'high fraud' countries.

To the OP...what you are offering is nothing more than hearsay. Which amounts to nowt in the eyes of the law.

Eh. What an icky guy. Almost hoping she runs off with his credit cards. That said, being an icky schmuck itself isn't fraudulent, and I'm not sure what reporting it would do.; can't arrest the guy or the girl or the restaurant owner beforehand, especially since you don't know their names, let alone that they just may be schmucks, which isn't against the law.

I'd let this go. If they go the K-1 route, the consulate will catch it. It's a high fraud country.

The Patriot Act loosens then parameters for search of records quite a bit, and if DHS decides this story merits an investigation then the records of that flight could be subpeoned.

Bill,

Contact ICE. They may already have a file on this restaurant owner or ring, who may have pleasantry7fm.gif 'lots of cousins'. Your added info may assist.

I don't know if I should report this incident or not, but its certainly been bugging me!

Report what exactly? That a 50 year old American drunk is going to Thailand to

hook up with his 18-year old fiancée? Yah, that's highly illegal. So illegal in fact that

there are probably 50 VJ members doing the same thing as we speak.

I don't believe that many people who are lured into a situation like this cab driver was would bother to participate on VJ, but then ... opinions vary.

Lured? Who are you trying to protect again? The poor innocent 50-year old drunk

who was "lured" to Thailand to sleep with an 18-year old? Or the poor innocent

18-year old who wants a green card and is willing to sleep with the old man to get it?
