My auntie is in Vietnam and she wanna buy a house for her son there. Her son is USC. He and my husband live in different states. My husband's income is about $50,000. Can he co-sign? Does it cause any doubt about our case? I just worry they will doubt if my marriage is a scam. If it does not cause any doubt, should he co-sign?

Thanks for your opinion.

Is she getting a loan to buy the house? I'd be surprised if a bank in Vietnam accepted a co-signer who was neither a citizen nor resident of Vietnam, and who resided in another country. How could they enforce collection?

I meant that my auntie gives her son money to buy a house in the US. They will get loan from a bank in the US and still need a co-signer. I would like to know if my husband in the US can co-sign with her son in the US too. And does it cause any doubt about our marriage in CO.

Ok. Co-signing a mortgage loan isn't the same as an unsecured loan. The co-signer also becomes co-owner. Your husband will own the house along with your cousin. Whether the consular officer will know about it depends on how much time passes between the closing of the loan and the consulate interview. Real estate ownership is a public record that the consulate will probably find out about. I understand the consulate often requests a Lexis Nexis report on the petitioner. I got a copy of my own report before my wife's interview, and my home was listed on the report, as well as my mortgages, insurance, property taxes, etc.

Will it affect your interview? It depends. If the consular officer sees the report, and sees your husband co-owns property with a Vietnamese person, they might very well ask if that person is related to you. It would look dramatically more suspicious to the CO if your cousin was helping your husband buy a house, but I'm not sure the CO will be able to tell the difference just by looking at the public records. Yeah, I suppose it could be an issue.

Thanks so much for your input Jim. We decided not to co-sign to avoid any problems.
