I am at the beginning stages of the K-1 process for my fiance in China. I recently had a discussion with a friend who just completed the process in the Philippines. He said that his presence at the Manila consulate expedited the issuance of the visa. My questions are: can I be present? should I be present? and is my presence going to move things along? We were thinking about my friend's need for an extra plane ticket to be there.

Many thanks to all on the forum

There are consulates/embassies which allow petitioner to be present during the interview (Philippines is one of them) but others do not. So better inquire whether China allows it. Godbless and welcome to this journey! :star: :star: (F)

Makes no difference in Guangzhou, the US Citizen is not allowed in the interview. I do intend on being in Guangzhou when my fiance is interviewed though. On monday afternoons the consulate has an informational meeting for visiting U.S. citizens who are in Guangzhou to be with their SO during the visa interviews.

Since you are new to this, and want to know more another board to check out is http://www.candleforlove.com/ they are more specific there with regards all things China.

Welcome to the journey!
