On august 31 i recieved a letter from the NVC that our case is being fowarded to the U.S. embassy of Kabul and that my fiance will soon recieve packet 3. My fiance till now hasn't recieved anything..how long does it usually take to recieve packet 3?

Welcome to the forum.

Has the petitioner contacted the Department of State (DoS) to inquire about the status of the case file? The petitioner will need the DoS case file number, please refer to this recent similar-themed thread for more information:

Please review the K-1 Flow Chart, available in the "Guides" section, easily accessible at the top of the forum page, for estimated time frames.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Hello A&B,

I have also received a letter from NVC that our case was forwarded to the U.S. embassy in Kabul on September 10th, 2012. So, far we have not received an interview date or packet3 either. I called the embassy and they told me that when my fiancee is scheduled for an interview they will email everything at once (the interview date and time, packet3, etc). Now, i am not sure how accurate is that statement but it is so frustrating. how does the embassy contact people? Is it via email or regular mail? Thanks, F&W

Good question. If you are unsure of the embassy's statements:

Check the regional forum for information from other folks that have interviewed in Kabul.

The petitioner can contact the visa specialists at DoS hotline. I provided you the information in the previous thread link.

Good luck.

Thanks A&B, I thought that this was the Portal for Afghanistan. Maybe angsam143 can answer my questions. thanks for the replay.

No, I believe you posted your inquiry in angsam143 thread, which was posted on the main K-1 forum. Rather than hijack his thread, you could start a new thread with your question.

Good luck on your visa journey.

hi, my case was also in Kabul. The consulate there is very busy, thus it can take anywhere from 5 to 6 months for your fiance to hear from the consulate. Its normal, I know the wait sucks, but dont be surprised if you have to wait a long time after the case reaches the embassy until your interview date. (which they will notify by emailing you or your fiance)

You can also email the consulate directly to get an update. Make sure you include your case # from the NVC, your name, date of birth, your fiance's name and date of birth, and their email address.

The email address to the consulate is: KabulIV@state.gov

They also take a long time to reply to emails. So just be patient.

Salaam AFGgirl and thank you very much for the information. After I posted this question, the embassy did contact us via email and setup an interview date for my fiancee. So, inshallah things will workout. I hope that your case has been resolved as well. Apparently, the U.S. embassy in Kabul has streamlined their process for K1 visa applications. The interview notice also includes medial examination and other required files and fees as well. Anyways, I wish you all the best and everyone who is waiting for their loved ones to be united.

Thanks,

Salaam friends :)

I hope all is well. I just sent an email to the Kabul Embassy regarding the status of my case but received an automated message stating they were not responding to cases in "administrative processing." Problem is, I don't even know if they've received my case because last I heard I had a NOA2 stating my case was approved and that it was being forwarded to the Kabul Embassy. My NOA2 was mailed on October 10, 2013. Am I just being impatient? I'm just wondering if they've received the case and it didn't get lost or something.

Thanks much in advance!
