The most incredibly racist thing I ever read.

When I see black people in those kinds of jobs I do not think ANYTHING of it. Why would I? Black people are no different from me and you.

Why is that racist. It is a fact minorities are given quotas and preferences. I plainly said it's not fair but the thought does cross my mind.

When you are in cardiac arrest or your home is burning down, do you want the most qualified person or do you want a person that may not have made it if it had not been for his race ?

I have to agree with that. he/she made it sound as if black people are not capable of being doctors or being able to succeed. sounds like the one with a negative attitude/perception toward blacks is scotinmass.

Then you misinterpreted what I said. What I meant was that because of quota's , racial preference in promotions, racial preference in admittance to schools etc etc, when I see a minority in a position a part of me wonders if they were the most qualified or they got it because of a racial preference. I was explaining that quota's actually diminish the accomplishments of many outstanding minorities. I am not sure how stating the obvious is racist. Maybe affirmative action is a topic for another thread.

I am prejudice but not racist. Everyone is prejudice to some degree about how it perceives others. Some may not admit it. I am married to a person from another race. Yes I do encounter stereotypes and do feel some degree of distancing from those of my own race. Maybe this board is not ready for this level of discussion on purely an intellectual basis.

Lastly to argue that Blacks are not different than whites is absurd. Of course generally speaking there are differences. People from the South are generally different than people from the North. My family in Asia is very different than my family in America. Amish are different than Baptist, The thing is that it is ok to be different. To flat out say blacks and whites are not different is dishonest. It's politically correct but dishonest.

Winning by 5 percentage points is a pretty comfortable win in a presidential election. That said, Obama actually won by a larger than 7% margin in 2008. That's more than a percent and a half better than Clinton's margin of victory in 1992 and almost 8% more than W's margin of victory in 2000 who won his first term with half a percent less of popular votes than his opponent. And yet, both those guys went on to get re-elected.

I'm not worried.

Or, even worse, that if a black person is NOT a doctor or President of the USA that it is someone else's fault! This really takes away any possibility that they believe a black person could have ANY control over their own life's direction. It is a despicable statement. Fortunately we have laws to prevent this sort of thought process from oppressing black people like it used to. The Democrats filibustered the laws when they were introduced but right will always win out!

So what I said was more racist than the point I was responding to in your mind?

Yes. Because not only do you seem to think it is really something special if a black person can be successful, like he is a "magic negro" or something...you attribute their failure, if any, to someone else also. In other words, they have no control over their own lives, good or bad. I think it is horrible to speak that way. A black person, just like me, makes his own way in life, makes their own decisions and pursues their own happiness and success.

The racism of low expectations is the worst of all. Affirmative Action is, in itself, racist in low expectations and by discriminating against people based on race.

I knew I could count on you. You are 100% predictable. Better than a crash test dummy

You are exactly correct and it takes an equally moronic person to suggest that someone not voting for Obama is racist. Unless you think black people are too delicate to handle criticism of any kind, and cannot comepete equally with white people which would be more racist than not voting for him.

Thank you so much for making the point for me.

Except that up until you made that post no one said the r word, so I'm not sure why you brought up "hating women" - it was neither here nor there. The equivalency was not there to be made but you brought it up.

As for predictability "why do you hate women" posts are a square on the "Gary and Alla" bingo game

exactly. Sorta what I was trying to say but you seemed to say it better. Affirmative action and quotas are racist and hurt those they were designed to help.

Nor does it mean "racist".

There's that word again.

Isn't the word "negro" considered to be a racist term these days?

No one had the guts, there are many references to racism. It is not the "r" word. RACISM. It is OK, you can say it.

There's that word again.

What if it is? I do not know why it should be. But you have racists beliefs that blacks cannot usually attain success, or even FAIL all by themselves, so I am sure you are not offended by it.

I've never said that and I do not believe that.

I don't find that word offensive but there are probably those that do.

Where? And what does it have to do with your cute little bugbear "hating women".

Read the thread. You served your purpose for me, it really doesn't matter if you understand how. Thank you
