My prospective daughter in law is the primary sponsor but cannot meet 125% threshhold and wants her father to be a joint sponsor. Can the other parent, her mother, sign a Form I-864A to add in her income to her father's I-864. There doesn't seem to be any guidance on the forms about this. A Sponsor can do it but what about a Joint Sponsor?

It's possible if the parents are married and share a household. It's not possible if they are not married or do not share a household.

Daughter-in-law files her own I-864.

Her father files an I-864 with his income. His wife can file an I-864a as his Household Member. (Noticed that I said "his wife" and not "her mother." The Household Member's relevant relationship is to the Sponsor or Joint Sponsor whom the household member share a house with.)

Thanks very much for that
