NVC Glitch causes HUGE El Salvador Backlog

 Share

"Unfortunately, NVC recently uncovered a huge glitch in theirsystems where they did not realize that approximately 1,000 San Salvador caseswere ready to be scheduled for appointments. So in September, we all of asudden had a huge backlog from previous months where they told us that none ofthe cases were ready for appointment scheduling. Additionally, wecurrently have staffing limitations that prevent us from increasing ourcapacity for appointments.

That being said, we probably won’t be able to work down theentire backlog until early 2013. Since NVC just informed me that theyhave completed November scheduling and are beginning December scheduling now,it is unlikely that she’ll get an appointment in November. It reallydepends on how long her case has been ready in comparison to the othercases.

NVC has a procedure whereby you request an expediteappointment if there is a medical or life threatening emergency, but other thanthat it really is just a waiting game. Sorry I can’t be more helpful."

Straight from my inside source. Great.

So when you say NVC cases were affected by this so called "glitch", did your source specify the type of cases that fall within the affected category of cases? About three weeks ago my attorney finally decided to submit my Fiancee's I-212 Waiver. So, I'm wondering if waivers will be affected by the glitch.

That is indeed, unfortunate for you. I also just found out through, http://cliniclegal.org/about-us,'>http://cliniclegal.org/about-us, that the waiver process was changed this past summer. Apparently waivers were process at the foreign consular offices, but starting June 6, 2012, they'll be process by the Nebraska Service Center. The only draw back is that it'll take six months to review a waiver. Nonetheless, a friend of my fiancee said they take roughly 3 months to get it done.

If you like to read more on immigration issues or legal procedures and immigration law, this website has a wealth of information. enjoy and good luck.

@TR- it's only taking 2 months. I've been tracking waivers since lockbox started. Once it opens up to Mexican filers -- or once they can ONLY go through lockbox -- they're bringing on an additional few adjudicators.

I really hope this is not true. NVC informed me that they sent my K-1 Visa to San Salvador on October 2 and I was really happy everything was moving so fast. Now I am worried especially since in my NOA2 said it expires January 24,2013. I think I have to start praying more....

that's so bizarre, but good on you for catching it !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

My catching it hasn't done anything. It's not going to get the 1000 people, including myself, an interview anytime soon.

You're right. I E-mailed USCS with regards to process time for a I-212 waiver, this is the response:

"Good morning,

The current processing time for this type of application is approximately 60 -90 days from the date the case was received by the Nebraska Service Center.

The National Customer Service Center's toll free number is 1-800-375-5283 or you may access the USCIS website at www.uscis.gov should you have any further questions or need additional information

Regards,

USCIS Nebraska Service Center

EX0357"

My goal is to have her in the State by December. God willing!
