Either agree with him or you're ignorant and don't know what you're talking about! It's a fact of life here in P&R.

Considering one can only speak for oneself, the general presumption is always that the poster was speaking of his own experience. You do the math...

You need to go up to Gegel's house and punch him in the face. That'll show him.

The funny thing is that we had many people stop by and ask what the meaning of that was, many of whom were tourists, and it allowed for several opportunities to exchange political views and discuss the W administration - I use the term loosely, to be sure.

The beer, wine and finger food consumed as a consequence was a sheer fringe benefit...

Just using personal experience(s) is what is ignorant though. It might be one's own reality in their little circle, but it's not the big picture everywhere else.

It's those personal experiences though that politicians use against us to get their way. One person gets hurt in some way and we need a law to make sure it never happens again. Meanwhile 40 million other people never got hurt doing the same activity..

The American people are not only ignorant of their own population, but ignorant of the global population as well. 310+ million in this country, almost 7 billion people on the planet and people think that their one item of control or the law they want to pass is going to be good for everyone.... It's sad. It's part of human nature to show certain forms of compassion and want to 'control' something that is seen as wrong. As you've said yourself though, it's all about personal experience isn't it? So when it's all about "personal" experience, why do so many try to change the world. It's called being selfish.

It seems you missed your own point. When you said 'ignorance is bliss' you could only be speaking of it firsthand, for it would be impossible for you to have experienced that through someone else.

Wanting to "change the world" is selfish?

Of course it is. Who the hell are you (or even a group of people who might have a similar view as you) to dictate to others how they should and should not live their lives?

Not really, I'm an observer. My own personal experiences don't reflect upon my own 'beliefs' in any form at all. Actually my 'personal experiences' would have society telling me that I should be a 100% left-wing moonbat.

My forte and passion is social anthropology and sociology. Which has led me to be the 'problem solver' as well among my own social circles. I'm the mediator and the one with a clear head who tells person A and person B what they're doing wrong (and right) and tells them how they can resolve their issue.

I've seen and been around almost every type of person imaginable and all of them have one singular thing in common. They are always looking out for themselves. Even the most Christian giving person is doing what they do because they ultimate want a place in heaven. People are about self-preservation at the end of the day, and they will use any means necessary to achieve that. There's a reason why some say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. It's because it is. Someone's 'good intentions' are really their way of making sure they feel good, but they don't look at the consequences of said actions.

Ditto for you. Hello pot.....

and when have you ever seen me advocating for more government in someone's life? I try not to interfere with things that will have a direct effect on anyone else.

Something different can be said about a lot of people on these boards on the left and right side of things.

So then you support Biden's views on abortion? And realistically, any government is going to have a direct effect on people. The question is how much, and in what areas.

What are you talking about? I think more people need to have abortions... Getting way too crowded in this place! With that being said though, I personally feel it's absurd to use it as a form of contraception, but not going to stop anyone from doing it, nor am I going to stop a religious organization from not covering their employees who want one either. We all have choices in this life.

Yes, you're right on government having an effect on people's lives. However that was the whole point in the founding principles of this country. Limited government so the people can have liberty.
