I just returned home yesterday from 2 weeks with my hubby and we managed to get alot accomplished. If you remember I was asking about fees for passport because he needed his corrected. Well the original guy that he gave money too that did nothing for his passport had apperiently done the same to others and he was arrested while I was there and he is to return some of the money to my husband (of course we are not holding our breath on that). But the good news is that he actually got a contact thru his mom that works at the embassy and he is scheduled to go to Abuja next week to get his passport. So I am hoping by the end of the month I will have all of his packet to submit to NVC we completed the DS-230 and I brought that back with me and he is going to get the police report as soon as he has the passport in his hands... thanks everyone for your support and advise. Gowan you were right it was pricey but at least this time he will have a passport... :dance:It is so hard to keep leaving without him I am praying for a December or January interview does that sound possible if we have everything in by the end of October or is it more like Januaray or February? I am so tired of 2 weeks at a time I want him home so we can have a life together...

I feel you dear. Congrats on getter dne. We are both in the same boat looking at maybe God willing December interviews.

I too am just frustrated. I am waiting and I can't blame NVC on this except to say WHY isn't every country Electronic Processing.:crying:

Here's my storty (sorry in advance to vent).

Husband gets:

1. DS-230 signed and ready

2. Birth certificate (that took 10days) Nothing is fast in Nigeria

3. Marriage Certificate-certified (no way they get my original)

4. Police Certificate don't even get me started on that mess

5. Court Document of his family name change

He also included my birthday cards, poems he wrote and a love letter...awwwww. But I digress

Off he goes to post office. Yes Post office mail not Fedex like I told him. ughhhh to save a buck I guess. That was 9/10. The post office says be there no later than 12 days. Being sent to my work address. Good fine. Should be here by the 9/24.

It doesn't show. 9/28 husband goesa back to post office to complain they apologize saying "we sent it off late we are sorry she should get it next week thats basically end of last week this week. Still nothing.

The idea of my husband having to do this all over again makes me sad. I just want case complete or why can't we bring this ####### to interview ughhh and scan for goodness sake.

Okay all done LOL. I should very well beeen done in August with the rest of my VJers having interviews this month done and here I am weeks from case complete. Praying to be done by month end for a December interview.

Okay I am better now. LOL :help:

So sorry for the postal mail delay! But if your husband mailed it registered i.e mailed it with a certified receipt by the post office, then, you'll definitely track it by the receipt number. Certified mails are generally handled with extra care though it take any time from 7 days to a few weeks to reach their final destination. You've been around for a while now and I bid you God speed in the rest of your visajourney in Jesus name, Amen

Awww thank you so much for your words. Yes seems I have been at NVC forever. But God knws where our docments are and I know Nigerian mail like so many postal services in the world is very slow. This whole process truly teaches you patinece and waiting on God for real. :)

Oh man that is not good I thought for sure you would get ahead of me again. If my hubby even trys to send it snail mail he will not be a happy camper I am sure... I told him DHL or Fed Ex... I wanted to just bring it all home with me when I came back this week but he wont have the passport til next week. Do you know what they mean by long form of the birth certificate. My hubby keeps saying there isnt a long form and I have not found out what the difference is for him... I guess if there is a 10 day delay on those I better tell him tonight to get working on that but I dont want him to get the police report until he has the passport. Maybe they can fly over together  ... Keep positive maybe we are having all the issues now so our interview will be smooth sailing....

you should have brought it all back cuz the passport pages he could have just scan those to you and you wouldn't have to spend a dime.

The Long form birth certificate he must have. You get it at the National Population center. The long form just like ours is the one that has all the parents information. They will not accept anything else.

I'll be done someday praying we don;t have to do over again.

@ dwheel76 and memlaura you both have been such a positive influence in this long and trying journey. You've come a long way now and the Lord will accomplish you both in His appointed time soon. As for the long birth certificate, memlaura, tell your husband to have any member of his family that's older than him go to the court to obtain an age declaration for him. Then take that age declaration affidavit to the National Population Commission. The NPC knows what to do and they will issue you the long birth certificate which is a one page form that has the official government stamp with all the necessary details about your birth place, year of birth, age etc. It's easy to obtain... May God bless the rest of your journeys in Jesus name, amen!

Hi I'm so sorry to hear bout the mail stuff next time use Dhl ok...yea I knw it's expensive but Wht can we all do..we jus hv to make so many sacrifices.infact my local Dhl agent are baffled Hw I keep sending 1 paper regularly(so annoying). At a point a Vjer adviced we call NVC asking if i could bring the documents with me to d interview but the lady my husband spoke to refused saying they have to get the document before my case can be considered complete!! Grrrrrrr.

So I'm trying to get the document sealed/stamped at the ministry of foreign affairs in Abuja as the one I sent off last wk with a court stamp isn't enough. The hassle is unimaginable! And everything in Nigeria is either slow or a lot of money involved. So jus tke it easy , the Lord is our strength. Also use fed ex or Dhl next time it takes 4days be it weekdays or wkends.

GOODLUCK!

God is love!

You know our Nigerian husbands are hardheaded. He thought to save money cuz he felt that $80 or whatever at DHL and FedEX was rubbish. So he was like "Babe the post office guarantees and its insured I paid extra for that". Whatever dude. First they lie and don't send it when they should who knows when or if they sent it. I figure a month oh well. Wait I must. After next week its doing it all over if it doesn't come.

Thank you for the encouragement. .
