What exactly does the "Priority Date" signify on the NOA receipt letter for Adjustment of Status for Permanent Residency? Just curious as we wait for the date for the biometrics appointment. Thanks.

Yeah, it's the NOA1 date. While it's a fairly fast process with i129f/i-130 or AOS, some people have priority dates dating back to 2005 and even further back. On the processing times on USCIS, you'll most likely see different dates for each form. The dates are which ones are currently being processed. Well, at least when USCIS updates the processing times.

If they're backlogged with for example I-129f petitions, then it won't say "average processing, 5 months" but change to the petitions they're currently working on - just like when calling and inquiring about case status and you're told which dates they're at.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

Nothing for an I-485. Priority date is used for some time sensitive visas, etc. I-485 is not one of them. It is just the receipt date.
