Biden and Ryan share the same religion, but have very different takes on the message of their faith. Since a politicians is often brought up and expressed publicly, it will be interesting if the two candidates discuss the topic in tonight's debate.

Joe is not a real Catholic. Real Catholics don't say things like this:

When the nation elected Barack Obama and Joe Biden to run the executive branch in 2008, much of the country assumed that the incoming administration would be the most pro-choice government the U.S. had ever seen. Obama campaigned from Planned Parenthood events, consistently defending the "right to choose" and promising to make the Freedom of Choice Act one of his administration's highest priorities. Biden professes to have reconciled his Catholicism with a woman's right to choose abortion.

We get it. Both men like choice. Except, apparently, when they don't.

Earlier this week, Biden spoke to the leaders of China on the unsustainability of their safety-net programs, even compared with our own. The vice president intended to ease the fears of our major lender about American debt and future liabilities by pointing out that China has a more difficult demographic problem to overcome. Thanks to brutal enforcement of its one-child policy, China finds itself in a position where one worker will be expected to fund the safety-net programs for four other Chinese people.

One might suppose that an American vice president would take the opportunity to draw attention to the horrific procreation policies of Beijing, and try to take a positive step for both their economy and for human rights. Instead, Biden gave the one-child policy at least a tacit endorsement:

"Your policy has been one which I fully understand — I'm not second-guessing — of one child per family. The result being that you're in a position where one wage earner will be taking care of four retired people. Not sustainable. So hopefully we can act in a way on a problem that's much less severe than yours, and maybe we can learn together from how we can do that."

Biden fully understands China's one-child policy? Let's hope not — because if so, then he has truly brought shame on the United States and this administration with this statement. (Biden's spokesperson later backtracked on his behalf, saying the vice president finds China's policy "repugnant.")

When the state mandates abortion, then it is no longer "choice", Joe!

Actually they don't both share the same faith, from what I can tell only one respects the essential teachings of their church.

The other one really should get the boot because in his position he facilitates evil and takes overt action which promotes grave sin.

Why is it always about color or religion in this country. Should it not be about policies?

Save the different takes on their religion bs for the ignorant sheep. If you claim to be Catholic your either in or your out. There's no riding the fence if you claim to be Catholic as in you can't have your cake and eat it too. Biden is for homosexual marriage so as far as Biden and the Catholic Church goes including the Pope and the Holy Bible...Biden is a no go. He was baptized Catholic but that's as far as it goes.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Catholic Church teachings:

Evolution, not intelligent design, is fundamental Catholic teaching, Vatican Observatory director says

The Catholic Church opposes the death penalty in nearly all cases

.........................

The Catholic tradition teaches that human dignity can be protected and a healthy community can be achieved only if human rights are protected and responsibilities are met. Therefore, every person has a fundamental right to life and a right to those things required for human decency. Corresponding to these rights are duties and responsibilities to one another, to our families, and to the larger society.

.....

The economy must serve people, not the other way around. Work is more than a way to make a living; it is a form of continuing participation in God's creation. If the dignity of work is to be protected, then the basic rights of workers must be respected the right to productive work, to decent and fair wages, to organize and join unions, to private property, and to economic initiative.

The Holy Bible which is the official rule book for Christians and Christianity states several times that homosexual sex is a sin and homosexuals are sinners in Gods eyes. Biden is all for homosexual marriage so that right there takes him out of the running in regards to being a Catholic and a Christian.

You cannot claim to be a Christian and also claim to be pro homoexual. It's like trying to mix water with oil seeing how the Holy Bible states that homosexuality is a SIN IN GODS EYES and the HOLY BIBLE is the OFFICIAL RULE BOOK FOR CHRISTIANS.

Steve you are perhaps confusing "teaching" with Dogma, and with a half a dozen other categories of Catholic finding.

For instance, yes the Church is in opposition to Capital punishment, but it is not in the same category as the intrinsic evil that Abortion is.
