My wife and stepson have now been in the US for a little over 2 months. We started the AOS process for both in August. It is pretty straightforward, though expensive, using the forum'sy K-1 AOS Guide, easily accessed at the top of the forum page under "Guides" button. All of your questions can addressed there. Refer to your local State's laws regarding marriage requirements.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

EDIT: Also check the forum's Family based AOS forum for more information. Happy reading!

1) Look here:

http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

Apply for the SSN 1-2 weeks after POE. You don't need a marriage certificate to apply for a SSN. If your fiance will change her last name after your marriage, she will have to update her SS card and go back to the SSA with a marriage certificate.

2) You don't need a SSN in order to file for AOS.

3) Each city has their own way of proceeding. Look at the County clerk website or City website of the place where you want to get married. Call them if you don't find your answer.
