Dear friends,

I am a religious worker. I qualify for R1 visa. My question is

Can i directly apply for permanant residence after filing I 360 from my home country.

or it is possible only after arriving in USA on R1 visa?

Any good lawyer to help on this matter?

Thanks

You can't use the R1 simply as a means to then adjust status. That would be fraud.

You have to come to US on R1 visa and work at the Temple/Gurdwara for the duration of visa, that has sponsored your R1.

First get your R1.

I believe on the R-1 you need to be living in the USA and working as a religious worker for a minimum of 2 years before applying for the greencard. The R1 is a non0immigrant visa so its primary point is to bring religious people to the USA to help those of their religion in this country, not to provide a path to the greencard.

Amusingly the R1 is the visa with the highest fraud
