y'all need to study a bit in the MENA forum... and know about mandatory AP and if it will apply to you or no.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Agreed, I would hope USCIS/Dept of State are indifferent to country aside for actual reasons of fraud/etc.

Best of luck and welcome. Is the Iranian process longer than other countries or the same?

Thank You

It is slightly longer than usual because there is no American Embassy in Iran (and Vice Versa) so there are one of either embassies that your application gets sent to. On top of that my wife is living in India for the past several years so I am not sure if that adds to the complexity or not but I hope things move fast - it's already been 2 years since we got married and it's getting hard for us

I really hope that she does not have to go through AP. From what I have seen, AP is usually for men in the MENA region, not as much for women. And my wife has been studying in India for the past 6 or so years so hope that makes a difference too.

I have a quick question for you and it probably applies to others in this forum

How do you know when your case was transferred to NBC and when it was sent to local office for adjudication?

I have the NOA1 receipt of 10/05/2012 and when I entered the case number in the USCIS site, it shows a last updated date of 12/12/2012 but does not give any reason for the update. Is that the date or is there a separate status?

Also, is there anywhere I can see the processing times for I-130?

call into USCIS, get an ISO - that's the only way to know.

Once you know, I suggest going INTO the local office, and talking with the I-130 unit supervisor, as the local offices don't share info with the National Call Center.

that last updated date, in your particular case, I'm a thinking is the date the casefile was entered into the casefile status system - my dates are similar , my last updated date was actually the first date it was viewable online. If you have an MSC number - your casefile was transferred into the National Benefits Center already. Where it is now is anyone's guess, till you actually call into USCIS and inquire.

last updated could also be a touch, and touches occur when the casefile is scanned on the barcode thingie. Casefiles at local offices don't get scanned on the barcode apparently, or the barcode scanning stuff is broken at the online status portal for those casefiles with MSC #s.

So, want info? Call into USCIS, get an ISO. Ask specifically -

--was the casefile transferred to a local office? [and]

--what date was it transferred? [and]

--what date was it assigned to an adjudicator? [and]

--what date was the audit process started ?

--==--

Good Luck !

I told the hubs I may be here by autumn and he's all "let people do their jobs and stop worrying." I can't help it. Nationally there is a 13.7% completion rate as of Nov 12 in the USA for I-130 Immediate Relatives. Down from a 14.65% rate in Oct. We aren't seeing the numbers from Dec or Jan when there is a tonne of holidays (and probably submissions.) But I'll guess that number goes WAY down in both Dec and Jan and we probably won't it rise until March or later. In Denver it's an even lower rate of 9.5% down from Aug at 24% but up .4% from Oct. Gee....That's optimistic. NOT! So I reply that I'm letting people do their jobs as I don't have much choice. Internally I add "but it' doesn't make me a happier person to see those numbers." I can imagine how the VSC people feel as I have great confidence I'll be one. 8 months and still waiting on an NOA2 to even get the ball rolling on something I can "do."

On the good side he'll have a lot more income to show on next year's W2. Even though he makes way over the poverty guidelines I worried about this year's w2 and tax return because he'd only been employed since Sept. He kept saying "Well they'll understand because I just got out of the Military." I can't help but think, babes, they don't f-ing care... You have to make this line or they say get a joint sponsor... Which we don't and probably couldn't have. On the plus side if this goes slowly enough we'll have an IR1 visa vs a CR1. Today sucks. Woke up from a horrible dream, literally crying, check out the horrid numbers on USCIS, and just sit here doing nothing all day but trying to reset my GD iPod because it has the wrong email address on it and I can't seem to change it without resetting it. ARGH! (did I mention the apple site isn't letting me change my pw because I forgot it? I hate apple.)

Oh yeah and yesterday he tells me he'll be in Ok city for our 1 year anniversary. I don't really have any more time off from work, as it is i'm on unpaid time tomorrow and I'm here until the 3rd. Guess that'll be uneventful. crying.gif

You sound like me... calm husband who doesn't seem to be taking it seriously, while I spazz out and need tranquilizers and can't sleep. Ugh. Stop it at once. :innocent:

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.
