ya, some caveats:

1. 99.9 percent of the time, the I-130 and the I-129F are approved same day, as it's the same adjudicator

2. when the I-129F shows up, the I-130 is pulled OUT of it's place in queue, and the time is pushed back to the NOA-1 date on the I-129F. So the I-130 loses it's place in the queue, joined up with the I-129F, and yer in for a longer wait.

well if that's the case it sure didn't happen to me, because my I-130 got approved before I-129F, I looked at the timelines and I can see that they get approved at the same time. I'm still not getting the answer I'm looking for though because my I-129F is still in process and all I want to know is whether or not they will approve it and then close it or just close it before they approve it.

closing occurs at NVC, not USCIS.

When / if the approved I-130 arrives at NVC, the NVC doc intake process starts.

When the approved I-129F shows up later, NVC will twig to it, and will administratively close it, as the basis for it's continuance through the system at NVC to IV Unit, an unapproved I-130, doesn't exist anymore.

Like Darnell said, it's all done at the NVC level so you don't need to worry about it :)

It is a good sign as it means your file is not sitting dormant somewhere. I was told Dec 11th that my file was transferred to local office on Nov 27th and we got approved Dec 17th. Mind you the work load at the local office could also determine the speed of progress and other things.

ok - back from infopass, officially.

met with a front desk officer, explained all about the expedite request.

Showed her a copy of the expedite request cover letter. She asked to see all of the medical stuff, allowed me to go home and generate another 40 pages o copy and return. Whilst I was away, she talked with her supervisor, who talked with the supervisor of the I-130 unit (who didn't know anything about the expedite request).

Supervisor of the I-130 unit let the desk supervisor know that they'll pull the casefile and review all today and tomorrow.

When I came back with the pile o medical evidence in hand, the front desk officer had my entire casefile in her hand, all 8 inches of it. Yay !

She added my pile of expedite request evidence to the top of the casefile, rubber banded it all together, and walked it over to her supervisor, who took the casefile to the I-130 supervisor.

I've been told that the I-130 supervisor is reviewing it this afternoon, and I should know something about my expedite request soon. Still to be done? a. decision about expedite request and if warranted b. assignment to an adjudicator.

I also asked about the letter I sent to the I-130 office in Irving, out on the 11th, but it hasn't made it to 'be logged' yet. That letter was an inquiry about the expedite request.

my timeline, so far

-------------------------------------------------

01-23-2008 - Married in Wuhan

10-13-2012 - I-130 sent USPS Priority to Phoenix Lockbox, expedite request included (medical)

10-17-2012 - I-130 packet received at Phoenix Lockbox (so says USPS)

10-22-2012 - I-130 NOA1 date, per text and email. Going to MSC, Drats.

10-25-2012 - I-797-C Received via USPS - postmark 10-22, rcv'd date 10-17, notice date 10-19, PD 10-17

10-26-2012 - Service Request/Referral put in with an ISO over the telephone. ISO requested that someone review the casefile, find the expedite request included in it, and make a determination to expedite or no

10-30-2012 - [gleaned on the 31st via telephone] Expedite Request Under Review. Decision within 60 days. letter to follow

11-02-2012 - Received Service Request notice via postal mail.

12-04-2012 - Phone call with ISO, learned casefile transferred to local office, I'm pegged for an interview sometime.

12-04-2012 - [gleaned on 12-20-2012 with Infopass] Casefile logged at local office.

12-11-2012 - Sent off postal letter inquiry to Irving Field Office.

12-13-2012 - Another ISO call. Now NOT Pegged for local interview. Infopass appointment made online.

12-13-2012 - Congressional Inquiry Started

12-13-2012 - Can See Casefile Status online for the first time

12-13-2012 - Touched.

12-20-2012 - Infopass Appointment. Expedite request sent on to I-130 unit for evaluation.
