Darnell & All,

So I just called NVC and provided them my wife and my email. I also got the case number and the invoice number. However I am confused after what the operation had told me and so I really need some clarification on this just so that I don;t mess up this important step on optin and electronic processing. Please see following, thanks!

As I am reading through the steps from wiki, I know we need to wait until THE DS-3032 EMAIL FROM NVC before sending the optin email. So when I asked the operator about when the DS-3032 email will be sent after providing the email, she asked me to send an email to nvcelectronic@state.gov and request for electronic processing. -->THIS IS CORRECT? So electronic processing and optin email are two separate things?

If not then all I need now is wait till the DS 3032 email? Thanks, I know there should be tons about topic on this already, but I just want to reinstate this again to make sure.

Regards,

Shawn

no. you need to wait till the 'DS-3032 kit' arrives via email in yer inbox,

and then SEND OFF the OPT IN Email.

You must wait for it.

That NVC TeleOperator got that one bit wrong, alas.

If you attempt to OPT IN too early, that email goes into a black hole (this is specific to Guangzhou, for anyone else reading this).

For now, wait. Want to do something? Call NVC, ask for the AOS FEE BILL to be sent out via email (this is part of the DS-3032 kit, fwiw) .

It smells like the NVC TeleOperator gave you wrong info using common words that we all recognize. That really sucks. I wish we would talk to the training officer so these fellas would stop using the magic buzzwords and still get it wrong.

In the warnings about this, I've written that one must wait for the AOS FEE BILL to come in via email. I think the main failure point was that you asked about the DS-3032, the NVC TeleOperator heard that, and tried to be helpful. She was wrong, alas.

However - you are asking, as well, about electronic processing and optin email being two different things. In essence, they are. OPTING IN for Electronic Processing requires an OPT IN Email before you are allowed to participate in EP. Once you have received the AOS FEE BILL - is safe to OPT IN. Once you have been converted to EP, a GZO casefile number is issued. You need the GZO # for your EP files (not the OPT IN email, which contains the scanned/signed DS-3032, among other things)

Electronic Processing simply means you are sending stuff in via email (IV, AOS sets) after :
1. OPT IN was successful and
2. a fee bill was paid.

ya, sorry - NVC TeleOperators twig to magic phrases and words.

'DS-3032' is one of those. Since it's a trigger word for them, I suggest not to use it, when talking of EP with these idiots.

Instead, ask about the AOS FEE BILL, ask for it to be emailed to you.

I applied mid October myself. They were supposed to send an RFE Feb 1st which after 2.5 months of calling them weekly if finally arrived ... MID APRIL. So we filled out the forms and sent it back. It's been 3 weeks, when will they update the status? Why did it take them 2.5 months to resend me the RFE? Why should we have to wait longer due to their mistake?

Anyways, good luck to the rest of you! It's nice to see if there were no problems on your end that your interviews have been happening :). My wife's friend's CR-1 is taking over a year and now we're getting worried :(.

Ccongratulations ! That was (IMO) a very fast turn-around with the RFE, once it hit their door.

Thanks Darnell.I myself was shocked as it was only last week I dropeed the docs off via info pass( I Have to admit I used your sequestration concerns reason to the person at the desk when they asked why I didn't just mail it in.The opportunity was too good to let pass lol ) .I believe had i received the original RFE letter back in Dec it would have been done in Januarary. The Jacksonville field office stats look pretty good.

Darnell,

I just got my AOS email, actually the subject is "GUZ# (LIVAOS COMBINED FOR NEOPOST DS-1200)". Not sure if there is another email for the DS 3032. But just want to confirm that now is safe to opt in.....fyi - I do have an attorney oversea on this case (not sure if this matters). Thanks!

You have an attorney, there was a G-28 in play, so

there will be NO DS-3032.

If you check the NVC payment portal now with the GUZ # and the IIN, you will see both fees ready to pay.

You can pay them now, pay them this weekend, whatever, whenever.

----

Still must to OPT IN for NVC Electronic Processing, with that OPT IN EMAIL - just note you not need to attach a DS-3032 at all.

That's it, for now. I am envious, you will go faster than me ... (maybe)..
