when did ur spouse became a US citizen?

Hello kabayan. My wife just filed for her citizenship. Waiting for interview..

My question is: once she became a US citizen and then upgrade my F2a visa to ir1. how long would it take? I am already case complete in my f2a petition. (PD is Sept 22, 2010).

Hello there. Same case tau. Hubby applied for citizenship February 2012 became USC June 27,2012 to be exact. He upgraded my case right after his oath on the June27th. By sending a Upgrading letter with a copy of his naturalization certificate to NVC. I was upgraded to IR/CR1 category on July 16,2012. So I waited 2weeks and 5 days (?)

Please refer to my journey below this message. Andyan lahat ng details =) just pm me if u have other questiions.

So you had your visa in hand less than seven months after your husband applied for citizenship? I know the timelines are different for everyone, but this is encouraging. My husband can apply for citizenship at the end of next month, so theoretically we could be together by next summer. This is kind of what we have been hoping for. Of course it would really help if we had our NOA2 by now!

To OP, your PD is very close so you may not even need to upgrade your case anymore - it might be faster for you to stay under F2A. Good luck!

My F2A/IR-1 journey:

USCIS:
4 August 2011: I-130 sent (while husband permanent resident)
8 August 2011: Priority date
16 April 2013: NOA2

NVC:

7 May 2013: Case number received, DS-3032 sent

15 May 2013: AOS bill received and paid

16 May 2013: AOS package sent

17 May 2013: DS-3032 accepted

20 May 2013: IV bill received and paid

21 May 2013: IV package sent

11 June 2013: response to IV checklist sent

13 June 2013: Case upgraded to CR1

2 July 2013: Case completed

28 August 2013: Interview - approved!

21 September 2013: POE

18 November 2013: Green card received

My husband's citizenship journey:

8 February 2013: N-400 sent
4 March 2013: Biometrics
24 April 2013: Interview
12 June 2013: Oath ceremony

I am already here in US with my husband. I encouraged you guys to apply his citizenship as soon as possible. and after his oath he can send his copy of certificate of naturization and call USCIS to upgrade our case to IR1/CR1.

Hi again. Im confused about your "advance medical exam".. Is that possible? I mean can you have your medical exam done even if you dont have the interview letter yet? Because as you said you received your interview letter 2 wks after it was upgraded to IR1 but seeing your timeline you had your medical exam the day after you upgraded? Thanks kabayan! ;)

Yes thats possible! 2 days after my case was upgraded, I decided to hve a advance medical. I am a nurse in PI exposed to different kinds of communicable diseases. Thats why I did it in advance just to be I won't undergo "sputum exam" I just brought a COPY OF NOA2,2X2 PIC,PASSPORT AND COPY , PAYMENT AND A PEN. And my medical went smooth :)

No problem po kabayan :)

It is only valid for 3-6 months. Depends on the result of medical exam. So better do it in advance if your 100% sure your interview appointmnt will arrive a few weeks or a month later
