To any lovely Spanish people,

Im in the US and desperatley need to get some stuff to my brother who lives in Spain - he was a victim of the flash floods in Almeria and lost everything. Im trying to find the best way to mail him a package. He has a PO Box - but Ive been told that if I send anything that requires a signature (such as Fedex or USPS with tracking) then the PO Box will not accept it. Is this true?

So I was thinking of sending something to his house which is in the campo - and he has never had post delivered there. I don't even know if the postal service delivers mail to people or whether everyone has to have a PO Box?

Any information would be great help !!! Thanks !!

I don't know about Spain, but my wife is Dominican and they NEVER get any mail or packages there. But, they do have private delivery services that drop off a container at your house. You fill them up with whatever you want then call the company. The company picks up the container and delivers it to your friends/family. The containers are usually sent by ship and takes about 2 weeks to get there. A good size container costs about $200 to send. Maybe they have a similar service for Spain. I don't see why they wouldn't.

I know Fedex doesn't ship to PO Boxes but USPS should ship it as long as you send it without a required signature (but I understand your need to get a tracking number). I have sent mail to Spain before without a tracking number and it has arrived with no problem in about 10 days, but never something super expensive so it was worth the risk if it got lost.

Anyway, as long as his house has an address with a postal code Correos will deliver there even if it's in a rural area. If that's not the case, something else you could try is have it send to some local business your brother is familiar with or somebody else he knows with a "real" address.

Good luck!
