Hi fellow DCFers!

Today I plucked up courage to phone the UK London Embassy extortion line to ask if I had an interview date yet. My medical was only on the 20 September and so, being less than three weeks before, I expected to get a curt response and to be told to phone back in a few weeks. To my amazement the operator told me right away that I had an interview scheduled for 9am on 9 November!!!! Yayyyyy! Now that will be 7 weeks after my medical whereas Holly's (on here) interview was 5 weeks after her medical and that was what I had been expecting, I suppose. The letter to tell me this was apparently sent out yesterday, so I have got almost a month's notice which again differs to some people on here who get 1 to 2 weeks' notice. Interesting the different timelines don't you think?

Would just like to thank all the VJ people who took time to reply to my various questions along the way, who advised me to go down the DCF route and told me not to bother getting an expensive lawyer - you were all so right!!

Now just the hurdle of the interview to go through, which again isn't so daunting because of all the detailed descriptions on this site (our Holly again plus others!) and at last, the possibility of actually making some plans for the future! Honestly, I don't know what I would have done without this site - its been like having my hand held all along the way which was so comforting with my husband being so far away in the States.

Any new November interviews for London Embassy, folks?

Fantastic news! congratulations.

I had my medical on the 28th Sept and sent the final packet the same day too. I requested an interview at the start of December, so seeing yours come through so soon has picked my spirits up. Hopefully they can accommodate me!

Awwww thanks Danny! I think you stand a very good chance of getting your interview when you want. Phone in a couple of weeks like me (if you can afford it!!) because the actual letters seem to take ages to come. Lots of luck!

Thanks :) Yeah they give you a print out of your details from the courier and there is a tracking number on it. You just go on their website and put it in then it asks for you post code. If it says it cant be found, then they havent received it yet. Otherwise it will come up with a delivery date, usually the next day. Yes it finally arrived at 8pm! I recommend paying the extra £6 (i think) to get delivery by 12 noon just so you dont end up sitting there the entire day! The delivery man told me he had 10 more to deliver but wasnt going to take them

Lordy Lor Holly - can you imagine those poor people waiting all this time for their visas being told they would be delivered that day and not getting them after all???? You can imagine that they would think they weren't coming and be frantic all night long until they could get to phone the company the next day. Thanks for GREAT ADVICE - I am soooooooo gonna pay the extra after seeing your post and maybe others will take note, too. So glad you got yours.

Also, my letter from the Embassy came today marked first class post with second class franking on it :-)

Congratulations! Almost there now.

Thank you that's so kind! Still the interview to get through but now my hubby will be able to accompany me on the day as he is over from the States for that week. Hopefully he will be able to stop me becoming a nervous, gibbering wreck and remind me of my name and who I am!!

Does anyone know if he will be able to come into the actual interview with me?

You will need to call up (i know, i know!!) again and ask that he be added to the list for the day. Also write to them on the address thats on the interview letter stating your case number, both of your names and interview time and date and ask that he be added to the list to accompany you. You could just write if you want to but after hearing stories and seeing someone get turned away when i was there, i would send the letter and then call a week later to confirm he has been added. He will need his US passport on the day to get in too.

I wish i had paid the extra money now too! I thought it wouldnt be a problem because i could just stay in all day. But that was excessive.. Also i couldnt get hold of anybody on the phone, it was just an automated thing that couldnt understand anything i was saying. It asked for my phone number and what it repeated back had 14 digits! I also sent them a bit of an angry email that i've had no reply to...

All in all its a wildly expensive business, isn't it, Holly, getting these visas in hand! It really is the toughest initiation test I will ever have been through so I hope everyone who goes through it finds their dreams really have come true at the end of it!

It is expensive! But i LOVE paperwork and learning new things (i know im a nerd!) so i have had quite a bit of fun  I hope you find happiness on the other side :)
