Provided my Girl with instructions, then suddenly a new form pops up

So, with the help of this forum, I provided my longtime girlfriend with a decently detailed step-by-step explanation of how we are going to do this marriage-->resident--->citizen thing. I then get on the phone with her and she starts talking to me about a G-325A. Does she have to do that? If so, how soon and why wasn't it listed on the UStravel.gov website? Am I right in assuming that the first step is still my filling out the I-129f? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

G-325A is required of the petitioner and beneficiary when the petition form is filed. It is clearly stated in the instructions for the I-129F which can be found at http://www.uscis.gov/

I suggest reading over the instructions once again, see if there is anything else you've missed to avoid more confusion. Good luck. :)

Read the Guides, Follow the Example Forms.....UStravel.gov is not the same as USCIS.

Thank You guys for the replies. I guess you all can't be wrong  , so it appears my girlfriend was right. I will follow the link provided by Ryan H and Celeste and do what it says there (I'm assuming its current and not outdated).

When you say that the US Travel.gov thing is not the same as the USCIS, are you saying that the USTravel.gov is wrong? It seems super sure of itself and it is a .gov after all. I will probably just print out all of these forms and have an immigration lawyer assist me.

BTW, I am a US Citizen living in New York City, and she is a Japanese Citizen currently living in Osaka

Thanks Again.

An immigration lawyer isn't at all necessary if you have a simple case. This forum is full of people who have done it themselves and are glad to help others :)

Honestly, read the guides here at VJ, and download all of your forms from USCIS.gov.

VJ even provides examples of filled out forms so you know how to fill them out properly.

You can hire a lawyer if you'd like, but all they'd be doing is filling out forms with information YOU have to provide. A waste of money (and usually a lot of it) in my opinion!

Please remember that VJ is a 'DIY' immigration web portal, with an emphasis on 'Y' and 'D'.

If'n you miss something basic, after reading instructions in a form, say like omitting 2 G-325As (one on you and one on her)

then it might make sense to either:

1. read the guide here on the K-1 visa, understand the flowchart, here at VJ, when logged in from a PC (handphones absolutely SUCK for VJ knowledge gathering) or

2. get a lawyer, never visit VJ again...

Good Luck, whichever path you choose.

If the OP does decide to get a lawyer, it doesn't mean they should never visit VJ again. While this site is mostly people who did it themselves, there are plenty here who got a lawyer (with good and bad experiences).

When you say that the US Travel.gov thing is not the same as the USCIS, are you saying that the USTravel.gov is wrong?

No, not wrong, just not everything. The USTravel site is Department of State and USCIS is just that, USCIS.

If you follow the info on USTravel for the K-1, it tells you about the 129f form and links you to the 129f page on the (Yes) USCIS website. If you click on the 129f Instructions it will tell you about Other Documents Required and under that chapter it talks about the 325A form. It's all there, one just has to read everything and follow all the links....

..or......Just Follow the VJ Guides
