today I went to our car which we had parked out back in the apartment's carport.... I noticed something funny when I was going to unlock the car besides the door being unlocked :o ... it looked really messy in the car...

I opened the door and realized that someone had come in and stolen all our valuable stuff out of our car.... I ran and got my hubby...

they got our satettelite radio.... we keep the actual radio in the glove box but they got that too along with the antenna, the dock and the remote... my hubby hurried and cancelled the subscription... and the funny thing is that whomever those jerks sell the radio too won't get any use out of the radio because each radio has it's own identification code which Sirius has record of and if someone tried to subscribe with that radio they will have no luck

they also got the car radio, my hubby's prescription sunglasses, our CD collection we had on the sun visor (they were only copies of CD's we had burned though), and his cell phone charger.....

they left my sunglasses and a kelly clarkson CD I had in the glove box

it is funny because we have had the car parked out on the street for the last month or so with no problems and we have just parked the car in the carport for the last two days and it gets broken into....

Oh just to clarify, we didn't leave the car unlocked and we were wondering how they got in at first but then I noticed an indent by the window jamb on the passenger side... they must have jammed something in the window jam and got the door unlocked

I really don't know how people can steal someone else's stuff..... I wouldn't even think of doing that to someone :wacko::blink:

I know it is just stuff and we have lost something way more important than that stuff this month :(

So we have had a very interesting month... they say things come in threes so who knows what is next :help:

Well, at least you still have the Kelly Clarkson CD! Phew!

That sucks, Marilyn. FWIW, I don't believe in the "things come in threes" philosophy. It all depends on when you start counting!

well, I should have said that things seem to happen to me in threes, good or bad....

That really sucks, Marilyn.

I had my car broken into (they took my CD's and my kids left their GameBoy in the back) about 4 years ago right in the apartment complex where I was living at the time. There were always a lot of young hoodlums hanging about at night which always made me nervous. In Southern Cali, a car alarm is a necessity, but also if they can see anything valuable inside, they'll even break your window to get it. The worse part is the police really can't do anything for you.

Will your car insurance cover any of the loss? Check your policy.

no, because we didn't get the insurance until today but the insurance we have know will cover anything that is worth more then our $1000 deductible.... which basically means if the car is stolen but not any of the stuff in the car .....

Doh... better that it was a petty left vs. an auto wreck...phew. :o

What's the make and model of your car? Most likely it was some young kids, otherwise they would have hotwired your car and taken that instead. I'd highly recommend spending the money for a car alarm unless you're certain the car's not the kind that anyone would steal (Honda Civics, Toyota Corolla's I believe are the highest risk for auto theft).

If you plan on replacing the regular radio and/or the satellite radio, most insurance carriers offer supplemental coverage for sound equipment and even CD's at a pretty low rate, not subject to a deductible. It might be worth considering if you have a lot of value inside your car.

yup, I agree  ... I had one for my car back in Canada....

I know they prolly can get around the club nowadays but if there are two vehicles there and one car has the club , they will prolly go after the car without the club.... less hassle

ack....sorry to hear that Marilyn. Our car was broken into a few months back, stole the CD/radio player plus all the CDs (luckily copies). Had to laugh...hubby's gym bag was in the car, they emptied it out and everything was folded neatly on the front grass  took the bag for all the stuff they stole....8 cars along the street the same night....cheeky buggers.
