Hello,

If someone could help me out with my question it would be greatly appreciated.

We anticipate receiving the IR-1/CR-1 travel visa next month. My understanding is my Colombian wife would receive here green card upon entering the U.S. How long after she receives the card can she travel to Colombia?

She can enter and leave the same day if she wants.

Her immigrant visa will be endorsed by CBP at the time of entry, and itself acts as a temporary green card for a period of up to one year, until the permanent card arrives in the mail within 30 - 60 days of entry.

Your wife's passport will be stamped with the I-551 stamp which will allow her to re-enter the US if she needs to leave before her green card arrives. Her green card should arrive 2-12 weeks after entering the country.
